The Jaguars have dismissed Fran Foley from his duties as pro personnel director. New Player Personnel Director James Harris informed Foley of the move yesterday, and Harris says he will wait until after the NFL Draft before he fills the job.

Foley came to the Jaguars from Boston College with Tom Coughlin. He was assistant pro personnel director until 1998, when he was promoted to director when Ron Hill left to join the Atlanta Falcons.

"It was more or less to give him an opportunity to make some contacts," Harris said of discharging Foley before the free-agent signing period. "He's been here nine years; he's been a part of some good things that have happened here."

Harris and his scouting department will travel to Indianapolis next week for the scouting combine, the most major of events in preparing teams for the April 26-27 draft.

Head coach Jack Del Rio, Harris and their staffs have concluded their evaluations of the current Jaguars roster, which includes 36 players signed. "Obviously, we have some very productive players in Brunell, Taylor and Smith. We've got to add speed on defense and some play-makers," Harris said.
