SEARCY SIGNS RESTRUCTURED CONTRACT

Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl offensive tackle Leon Searcy has signed a restructured contract with the team. Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed, although the deal was one of several done by the team to free up room under the salary cap.

"Leon has always been extremely good to the team in helping us to maximize our salary cap room for free agency," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "He has once again been very cooperative with us, and he is well appreciated. With the room Leon has helped to create we are able to be more active in the current free agency process."

"The terms of this restructuring are a mandatory part of the process," said senior vice president/football operations Michael Huyghue. "It was a necessity, under the rules of restructuring present contracts, in order to maximize salary cap room. The figures in the contract were purposefully inflated in order to abide by and accommodate the rules of restructuring existing contracts. This, like all the others, was a legal salary cap maneuver agreed upon by both parties. And negotiations for Leon's future years is still an ongoing process."
