Seats covered Thursday

Beginning on Thursday, July 28, the process of covering 9,713 seats inside Alltel Stadium will begin. MetroMedia Technologies, Inc. is making the large coverings which will be installed in the north and south ends of each upper deck as well as part of the north endzone. As announced in December, the Jaguars are reducing the capacity of Alltel Stadium to 67,164 by covering nearly 10,000 seats. The team's objective is to sell out Alltel Stadium, creating a better game day experience for our fans and allowing Jaguars home games to be televised locally. Over the course of the season there will be 97,130 fewer tickets available to Jaguars home games.

The upper deck sections will be covered with large, custom-made tarps imprinted with a Jaguars logo and artwork. These four areas in the upper deck account for 6,954 seats, about 1,738 in each corner. The north end zone will have 2,759 seats eliminated, and will be covered with tarps bearing the logo of TNT Logistics, a Jaguars corporate sponsor. The attached is a rendering of what the stadium will look like with the seats covered.

The Jaguars open their preseason schedule on Saturday, August 13 against the Miami Dolphins. The regular season opens on September 11 against the Seattle Seahawks.
