TAYLOR NAMED NFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has been named NFL Offensive Player of

the Week for the Wild-Card weekend. Taylor is the first rookie to in

a postseason player of the week honor in the three year history of

the award.

Against the New England Patriots, Taylor rushed 33 times for 162

yards and one touchdown. His 162 rushing yards were the third

most rushing yards by a rookie in a postseason game in NFL history,

behind Timmy Smith of Washington (204 vs. Denver on 1/31/88)

and Paul Lowe of San Diego (165 vs. Houston on 1/6/61). In

addition, Taylor set the team postseason record for most rushing

attempts with 33 and is second in rushing yards in a game. Natrone

Means holds the team record with 175 yards on 31 attempts against

Buffalo on 12/28/96.
