The Jaguars went through the 11th two-a-day practice session today on Ferrell Fields, with only three two-a-days remaining before training camps ends.
"These days are critical because there are so few two-a-days left," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "Players don't understand that when we go to one-a-days, it's a shock for the coaches. We might have 25 (practice) situations to cover in a two-hour practice just three days a week. There's a lot of things that we can work on in only a limited way during the season, so there is a sense of urgency right now. It's very important for the players to gets their minds going and do what we have to cover right now."
The Jaguars will complete training camp next Wednesday, which will be the final day of the two-a-day practices.
Coughlin reported on the team's injury status, saying that DE Jeff Lageman won't play in Saturday's game against the Giants because of a bicep injury. CB Dave Thomas (hamstrings) returned to practice on Wednesday and LB Brant Boyer (groin) is ready to return. Rookie LB James Hamilton (ankle) is close to returning, but Coughlin said he didn't want Hamilton to get set back by practicing too soon. DT Kelvin Pritchett (ankle) and DE Johnie Church (hamstring) are still out.
The team will practice at 8:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. on Thursday. After a walk-through on Friday morning , they will depart for New Jersey on Friday afternoon. Kickoff for their second preseason game against the Giants is 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Giants Stadium.
