Winborn on IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed fifth-year linebacker Jamie Winborn on injured reserve with a knee injury and activated first-year running back Rich Alexis from the practice squad. The Jaguars also signed quarterback Nate Hybl to the practice squad and waived wide receiver Fred Stamps from the practice squad.

Alexis, 24, spent the first 11 weeks of the season on the Jaguars practice squad after spending the entire 2004 season on the practice squad. The 6-0, 213-pound running back was originally signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 25, 2004 out of Washington.

Winborn, 26, played in five games for Jacksonville after being traded from the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 6. The 5-11, 242-pound linebacker had started 19 of the 43 games in his career with San Francisco after being drafted out of Vanderbilt in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft by the 49ers.

Hybl, 27, was originally signed by the Jaguars on March 4, but was waived on Aug. 27. The 6-4, 222-pound quarterback appeared in one game for the Jaguars in the preseason. The second-year pro is a native of Hazelhurst, Ga. and was originally signed by Cleveland as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2003 out of Oklahoma.
