New for the 2013 football season, the Jaguars Foundation presents the Jaguars 50/50 Raffle for Charity. Each game, fans can purchase raffle tickets, with a chance to be the big winner. Half of the net proceeds will go to one winner. The other half will benefit the Jaguars Foundation and a co-recipient charity, with each game benefiting a different charity. Dignity U Wear will be the co-beneficiary for the December 5th game against the Houston Texans.
Dignity U Wear is a Jacksonville-based, national nonprofit that positively impacts the lives of children and their families in need throughout the United States by providing them with brand new clothing. The organization has three primary focus areas: school children, veterans and women in crisis. More than 75 social service agencies in Northeast Florida receive new clothing from Dignity U Wear. Founded in 2000, the organization has provided more than 8 million pieces, valued at $139 million, to more than 610,000 people.
During Thursday night's game, volunteers will sell raffle tickets to fans. There will be four permanent kiosks – located on the main concourse by the Bud Zone and near the ramps at Gates 2,3, and 4 – as well as mobile sellers who will be in the pre-game tailgate areas and in the stadium during the game through the end of the third quarter. The winning raffle ticket number will be announced during the fourth quarter of the game. Winners do not need to be present to win. Women overcoming difficult domestic situations almost always re-gain dignity and self-respect when they put on new clothes that look great and fit properly. The 50/50 Raffle co-recipients for the two preseason games were First Coast No More Homeless Pets and Family Promise. The JT Townsend Foundation, Second Harvest of North Florida, Baptist Health's Hill Breast Center, and K9s for Warriors were the beneficiaries for the first four home games in Jacksonville. Over $80,000 has been raised to-date.
