Jaguars Captains Revealed: Lawrence, Seven Others Named for 2026 Season

JACKSONVILLE – They're leaders on and off the field.

They're the eight team captains, and the Jaguars on Monday made that status official.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence (offense), center Robert Hainsey (offense), wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (offense), defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (defense), linebacker Foyesade Oluokun (defense), cornerback Jourdan Lewis (defense), long snapper Ross Matiscik (special teams) and punter Logan Cooke (special teams) have been named the Jaguars' captains for the 2026 season.

"We had a ton of guys on this team get votes and get a decent amount of votes," Head Coach Liam Coen said. "It wasn't just like the one or two that you get because you're friends with somebody.
"There were a lot of quality human beings and people in the mix to become captains."

Lawrence, Hainsey, Hines-Allen, Oluokun, Lewis and Cooke were captains for the Jaguars last season. Matiscik and Meyers are first-time Jaguars captains, with Meyers joining the team last season.

"The additions of Jakobi Meyers and Ross really gave us two new guys that weren't on the crew last year, and they're pretty obvious as to what their impact and influence has been on this team," Coen said. "Trevor, Hainsey, Josh, Foye, and J-Lew … those guys have continued to ascend in the leadership category.
"We had a lot of guys that we could have named captains, so it's a good group."

Coen said he also will again name a "rotating" captain for each game "just to continue the development of our leadership group."

Lawrence was named team captain for a sixth consecutive season to start his career, with Coen saying he received all votes on offense.

"If you're a teammate of Trevor and you see what he's gone through to get to where he's at, it hasn't just been like this smooth straight line," Coen said. "He has dealt with some stuff. He has dealt with some highs, some lows, some adversity in his career – injuries, whatever it is – and come out on the other side of things.
"When you get every single vote on the offense, it's kind of telling that the guys look to him. And he has a way of doing it. He has taken more guys by on the side at times throughout this offseason maybe than he did a year ago.
"He doesn't have to be a rah-rah guy out in front. It's the way that he prepares throughout the week. The way that he holds his teammates to a standard of preparation throughout the week. I think that that's kind of where you've seen a little bit of his evolution as a leader on this team."

Hines-Allen was named captain for a sixth time in eight Jaguars seasons, with Cooke named for a fourth time in nine seasons and Oluokun named for a fifth time in five Jaguars seasons. Hainsey and Lewis have been captains in both of their seasons with the team.
