Del Rio Completes Coaching Staff

Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio has completed the team's coaching staff in preparation for the 2010 season. The additions to the staff are Rob Boras, tight ends coach; Earnest Byner, running backs coach; Joe Cullen, defensive line coach; Ben Albert, assistant defensive line coach; Matt Griffin, offensive staff assistant; Ron Heller, offensive staff assistant.

"These additions to our staff bring many years of coaching experience and a lot of energy with them," Del Rio said. "We feel they will make strong contributions to this staff and to the organization. They are excited and committed to helping our team as we head into our offseason work. We will be working hard at finding ways to win and reaching the goals that we all have for this franchise."

Boras spent the past six years (2004-09) as tight ends coach for the Chicago Bears. The 40-year-old Boras has 18 years of coaching experience including stints in college at DePauw (1992-93), Texas (1994-97), Benedictine (1998), and Nevada-Las Vegas (1999-2003).

Byner is a former NFL running back who has 20 years of NFL experience including 14 as a player and six in coaching. Byner coached the running backs for the Tennessee Titans for the last two years after four seasons (2004-07) with the Washington Redskins. Byner played for the Cleveland Browns (1984-88, 1994-95), Redskins (1989-93), and Baltimore Ravens (1996-97).

Cullen, 42, has 20 years of coaching experience including 17 on the college level and three in the NFL. Cullen was the Detroit Lions defensive line coach from 2006-08 before spending the 2009 season at Idaho State. Previously Cullen coached at Massachusetts (1990-91), Richmond (1992-98, 2000), Louisiana State (1999), Memphis (2001), Indiana (2002-04) and Illinois (2005).

Albert has been coaching at the college level for the past 14 seasons. The assistant head coach/linebackers at Delaware for the last four years (2006-09), the 37-year-old Albert began his coaching career at his alma mater, Massachusetts. He has coached at Massachusetts (1995-96, 2002-03), Richmond (1997-2000, 2004), Rutgers (2001) and Delaware (2006-09).

Griffin spent the last 18 years as a college coach including seven seasons as a head coach. The past four years (2005-09) he served as head coach at Murray State following three seasons (2003-05) as head coach at Tennessee-Martin. Griffin's career coaching stops included Plymouth State (1992-93), Richmond (1994), Northeastern (1995-97), Tennessee-Martin (1997-98, 2003-05), Maine (1999-2002), and Murray State (2005-09).

Heller is a former NFL offensive lineman who has been coaching in the Canadian Football League and NFL Europa. Heller, 47, played 12 years in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1984-87), Philadelphia Eagles (1988-92) and Miami Dolphins (1993-95). Over the past six years Heller has been coaching for the NFLE Amsterdam Admirals (2004, 2006-07) and the CFL Toronto Argonauts (2009).
