In and Out, 2026 Week 2: Mullens Active

DENVER, Colo. – Nick Mullens will be the backup again Sunday.

Second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers was among the players inactive for the Jaguars in a 2026 Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High Sunday.

Ewers was among seven players deactivated 90 minutes before kickoff by the Jaguars, who elevated Mullens – a 10th-year veteran – from the practice squad Saturday. Mullens will back up starter Trevor Lawrence for a second consecutive game to start the season.

Mullens, Lawrence's backup in 2025, also was elevated from the practice squad into a backup role for a Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Also inactive for the Jaguars Sunday: Rookie wide receiver C.J. Williams, rookie tight end Tanner Koziol, veteran offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, rookie defensive end Wesley Williams, veteran linebacker Jack Kiser and rookie safety Jalen Huskey.
