Jaguars Mock Draft Tracker 3.0: Standout Position, Standout Player

012924 Mock Draft 3.0

JACKSONVILLE – A couple of players stood out this week.

A couple of positions did, too.

This is the 2024 third jaguars.com mock draft tracker – and with the Jaguars recently hiring defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, it's perhaps unsurprising that a defensive position and player were prominent among projections for the Jaguars at No. 17 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The position? Cornerback, with Iowa corner Cooper DeJean projected to the Jaguars in Round 1 by three analysts in this week's tracker.

"DeJean is an elite tackler for a corner and can jump on the routes taken in front of him," Anthony Miller of Pro Football Network wrote, with Tony Catalina of Pro Football Network calling DeJean "a rare athletic talent" who "has a chance to come in and make an immediate impact both on defense and special teams."

Two more analysts projected Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell to the Jaguars at No. 17 overall.

"When combined with his physical profile and aggressiveness on the football field, Mitchell should become a staple in first-round projections," Josh Edwards of CBS wrote.

Other players this week projected to the Jaguars at No. 17: Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, Alabama offensive tackle J.C. Latham, Clemson defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro, Louisiana State wide receiver Malik Nabers, Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin, Louisiana State wide receiver Brian Thomas and Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

"When given the opportunity to bag an explosive, competitive, reliable target with top-10 potential like Malik Nabers, you must pull the trigger and take him off the board," Oliver Hodgkinson of Pro Football Network wrote, with A.J. Schulte of Pro Football Network writing, "Brian Thomas Jr. is a height/weight/speed freak at 6'4", 205 pounds, boasting the explosiveness to match."
