JACKSONVILLE – With 2026 rookie minicamp scheduled at the Miller Electric Center this weekend, Jaguars "experts" analyze the team's rookie class and the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Jaguars' '26 draft class:
Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher (Round 2, No. 56 overall), Texas A&M defensive tackle Albert Regis (Round 3, No. 81 overall), Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon (Round 3, No. 88 overall), Maryland safety Jalen Huskey (Round 3, No. 100 overall), Duke edge Wesley Williams (Round 4, No. 119 overall), Houston tight end Tanner Koziol (Round 5, No. 164 overall), Baylor wide receiver Josh Cameron (Round 6, No. 191 overall), Stanford wide receiver CJ Williams (Round 6, No. 203 overall), Washington edge Zach Durfee (Round 7, No. 233 overall) and Middle Tennessee State linebacker Parker Hughes (Round 7, No. 240 overall).

The "experts" break down the class:
John Oehser, jaguars.com senior writer
- Overall impression: This was a methodical draft for the Jaguars – and while it lacked the high-profile nature of a first-round selection, it continued to build foundational positions such as offensive line, defensive line and secondary. They selected two tight ends in the same draft for the first time in franchise history, with the success or failure of that shift in offensive direction how this draft likely will be judged. This draft stayed true to the "Jaguars DNA," with mental/physical toughness and scheme fit a priority.
- Breaking down Day 2: After not having a first-round selection, the Jaguars surprised some observers by selecting Boerkircher No. 56 overall. The Jaguars later selected Koziol, with the idea being able to run two- and three-tight end packages extensively moving forward. The run on tight ends by multiple teams immediately after Boerkircher's selection told you why the Jaguars selected Boerkircher where they did. If they were going to get their guy, they had to take him there. Day 2 player to watch: Not only Pregnon, who figures to be a long-term starter, but the aggressive Huskey – who had 11 career interceptions and is a hard hitter in the secondary.
- What else I liked: The overall approach. Taking two tights ends, and revamping the position, made sense as multiple NFL teams continue exploring using tight ends to combat nickel and double-safety-high defensive looks. The Jaguars also continued building depth on the offensive and defensive lines with the Round 3 selections of Pregnon and Regis. Keep an eye on Williams and Huskey, who could have rotational roles early.

- Overall impression: This will turn out to be an impactful draft for a team with a very good roster and a salary cap that must be carefully managed over the next few years to handle contract extensions for players such as offensive tackle Anton Harrison, tight end Brenton Strange and wide receiver Parker Washington. I liked how they went for the players they really wanted, such as Boerkircher, while also finding value at spots where they wanted to build competition and depth such as wide receiver. The balance between the present and future is a fine line, and the Jaguars handled both very well in this draft.
- Breaking down Day 2: I had no previous knowledge of Boerkircher, but if he fits the definition of Duval DNA, then I am on board. Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen and General Manager James Gladstone understand the tight end position. It's a crystal ball business, so all Day 2 picks are gambits to a degree, but they found guys they needed and wanted. That's a good formula.
- What else I liked: I liked the Wesley Williams pick – not just because he's an edge rusher, but because of the flexibility he could give the defensive staff. It's easy to imagine the Jaguars sliding defensive end Travon Walker inside and putting Williams there with him to create the interior pass rush they're seeking while using Danny Striggow or B.J. Greene on the edge with Josh Hines-Allen. We can all watch highlights of Williams, but we don't know defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile's vision for him. Based on his defensive turnaround from a year ago, that's an exciting prospect.
Frank Frangie, Voice of the Jaguars
- Overall impression: I like this class. It includes some older guys who played a lot of football at the collegiate level. It also allows the Jags to lean into the two-tight end sets that are so popular these days; it included some very productive defensive players — a tackle, two edge rushers, a safety with a bunch of interceptions and a linebacker with a bunch of tackles. That is what stands out the most: Mature, veteran guys who were very productive in college.
- Breaking down Day 2: Four very physical players. Boerkircher is their best pick, but Regis and Pregnon are as strong and physical as any players in the draft. You must be tough in the trenches. Those guys will really help. I also love that their last Day 2 pick, Huskey, had 11 collegiate interceptions. That's a big number.
- What else I liked: This regime has talked a lot about culture, fit, mentality. That is what this group represents. The more you read about them, hear from them, you get the idea that fit was very important and that these guys all will. Coen said during the draft the Jags got tougher. I don't think there is any doubt about that. Can't wait to watch this group together.
J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com senior reporter
- Overall impression: This was a draft for a team that won 13 games last season without many front-line holes to fill. There will be some contributions from this group, especially the tight ends, but this draft is about two-to-three years from now when these players should be developed enough to step into starting roles or become major contributors.
- Breaking down Day 2: Boerkircher at No. 56 will add to the versatility of the offense in multiple tight end sets, as the Jaguars need multiple receiving and blocking threats. He can do both, despite his lack of massive stats in college last year. This was the guy they really wanted, so they drafted him, no matter what the "consensus" selections might argue. If you like your guy, go pick him before some other team does.
- What else I liked: Multiple defensive additions that should contribute right away in certain areas. Regis should help the rotation on the interior immediately. Huskey is a physical hard hitter that should fit right into what this secondary needs to be in the pass game, but also against the run. Wesley Williams should rotate in at the pass rush spots, and his physicality elsewhere on the field was also evident.

- Overall Impression: Very positive. After watching the staff operate with player acquisition last year in the draft and during the season, I trust them. They believe in Plan, Preparation and Process. They addressed the offense, defense and special teams needs with experienced, physical, productive high-character players that demonstrate leadership qualities. I also sense the personnel staff and coaching staff are on the same page on the needs and proper makeup of the players that they want for their schemes and team makeup. This is critical for success.
- Breaking Down Day 2: The offense and defense got better with these picks. Improving the run was a determined priority. I love the commitment to using 13 Personnel in the attack 3TE, 1RB, 1WR. Defenses struggle to defend this personnel group; 13 Personnel gives the offense an edge in the run on first and second down – and backed-up offense coming off the goal line, short-yardage, goal-line offense and four-minute offense when you must possess the ball to finish the game. If you use tempo, motions and formations, you put major pressure on the defense. It presents alignment and personnel match-up problems. Many teams struggled vs this personnel group. Pregnon has great offensive line traits: toughness, power, physicality, durability. Regis brings versatility, quickness and possible internal pass rush ability to the defense. Huskey appears to be similar to Antonio Johnson in how he can fit in the defensive scheme.
- What else I like: The additions on Day 3: Williams, Koziol, Cameron, CJ Williams, Durfee and Hughes. All have production in their play and will be excellent candidates for special teams. We won't know how good this class of rookies really is for about three years. The staff needs these men in the classroom. I like what I see moving forward.
Austen Lane, Jaguars Media Analyst
- Overall impression: The Jaguars chose to think outside the box in this draft. Most drafts are designed to move on from existing players, upgrade specific positions or simply take the best player available. The Jaguars in this draft still landed their "culture guys" with experience, strong work ethics and a clear love for the game, but with that came a bigger idea: Bringing in players who allow the team to evolve schematically and adapt to the changing styles of NFL offenses and defenses.
- Breaking Down Day 2: Selecting Boerkircher wasn't about selecting the consensus "best player," but it was an opportunity for Gladstone to signal where he believes the league is heading i.e., heavier usage of 12 and 13 Personnel. Boerkircher is a polished run-blocking tight end who takes pride in finishing. He flew under the radar for many draft experts and fans, largely because he didn't get the receiving targets he probably deserved in college. He's a very capable receiver whose skillset fits perfectly into the true 12 and 13 Personnel the Jaguars are building. It's rare for a third-round guard to generate the most enthusiasm amongst a fan base but Pregnon -- a big-bodied presence who plays with an edge and treats protecting the quarterback like it's his birthright – has done exactly that. He might end up being the steal of the draft.
- What else I liked: In the NFL, it's not always the biggest, fastest, or even most talented team that wins. It's the team that is willing to adapt. As a former player who dreaded playing the Gary Kubiak- led Houston Texans teams, I know how difficult true 12 Personnel packages can be to defend. NFL defense is about percentages and tendencies. Traditionally, when an offense brings in an extra offensive lineman as a "blocking tight end," it's easy to anticipate the play and set the strong side accordingly. If there's a pass catching tight end and a blocking tight end, defenses can key in on tendencies and set the strength side to the blocking tight while putting your best cover guy on the receiving tight end just in case it's a pass. But when you roll out a combination like Strange, Boerkircher and Koziol, those tendencies start to disappear. Now the defense has to ask: Is it a run or a pass? If it's a run, where is it going? What's the strength of the formation? Who's the stronger receiver that we put our stud LB or Safety on? These are the kinds of dilemmas Coen can create, and they're the kind of dilemmas that keep defensive coordinators up at night.
- A word on the defense: While many experts believed the Jaguars needed to address the void left by Devin Lloyd, the front office didn't see it that way. Not only are the Jags taking a page from the Rams' 12/13 Personnel playbook, they could be taking a page from the Rams' defensive playbook as well. Regis should compete for playing time and he has similarities to Rams veteran defensive lineman Poona Ford. Both may not have the physical measurables of a traditional interior defensive lineman, but both make up for it with strong, physical and disruptive traits using lower body explosiveness as their anchor. Huskey brings physicality and versatility, traits that could earn him early reps in dime packages. Add in Wesley Williams off the edge, and now you have another rusher who may be reliable enough to run different packages with moving Walker or even Hines-Allen down in pass rushing situations.
- Final Thought: Whether it's fashion or football, trends come and go. The hope for this Jaguars draft class is that these players not only contribute early, but also help the team stay ahead of the curve, adapting to evolving schemes without running the risk of "going out of style."
Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director
- Overall impression: This draft was historic for the Jaguars because it lacked a first-round selection for the first time and because of that, it lacked appeal. In the first year of the Tony Boselli/Gladstone/and Coen regime, they have provided fans with a lot of entertaining moves, plays and games. This wasn't one of those times. This draft was a bit boring, but that doesn't make it bad. There are a lot of good teams around the league that have been drafting boring for a lot of years. The instant impact of this draft won't be loud, but the addition of subtle chess pieces could be a difference in the fall.
- Breaking down Day 2: Day 2 for the Jaguars left a lot of people scratching their heads. Boerkircher was a surprise. The Jaguars needed help at tight end – and if Coen thinks this piece elevates the overall offense and quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who cares if the tight end was picked at 56 or 81? Pregnon might not pay dividends in 2026, but could be a selection we look at for years to come as one of the steals of the 2026 NFL Draft. I'm intrigued by what Campanile will try to do with Regis along the front. Could he be more than a backup nose tackle to DaVon Hamilton?
- What else I liked: The Wesley Williams pick because of his special teams prowess and the opportunity to develop a player that produced in college with 13 sacks and has a high motor. Keep an eye on the sixth- and seventh-round selections because I think this regime is going to unearth a talent in the late rounds every draft. My early pick is Cameron, who could emerge as a fan favorite in camp and someone the Jags want to employ during the season.
