The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Lane Kiffin as the team's first defensive quality control coach.
Kiffin, 24, will assist the defensive coaching staff in all aspects of game preparation, including scouting reports, opponent breakdown and writing the playbook.
Kiffin joins the Jaguars from Colorado State University, where he was a graduate assistant coach in 1999, working with the offensive line and recruiting the northeast U.S. and Canada. In 1997 and '98, he was a student assistant coach at his alma mater Fresno State University, where he worked with quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs and evaluated film of high school athletes.
Kiffin played quarterback at Fresno State from 1994 to '96. He earned a bachelor's degree from Fresno State in leisure service management and attended graduate school in business at Colorado State. Born in Bloomington, Minn., he is the son of Monte Kiffin, the defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a longtime NFL assistant coach and former head coach at North Carolina State.
