The Jacksonville Jaguars released safety Lamont Thompson today. The seventh-year veteran signed with the Jaguars on November 20, 2007 as a veteran free agent after playing in three games with Miami.
The 6-1, 215-pound safety played in three games last season for the Jaguars, recording six solo tackles and four special teams tackles. Thompson, a former second round draft pick in 2002 by Cincinnati, started 45 of his 83 career games with Tennessee, Cincinnati, Miami and Jacksonville. He recorded 240 tackles, nine interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
