The Jaguars signed veteran free agent defensive tackle Jonathan Lewis today and waived rookie running back Lavarus Giles, who had signed with the team as a rookie free agent on June 11.
Lewis, 24, spent the second half of the 2007 season on the Oakland Raiders practice squad. The 6-0, 304-pound defensive tackle was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. The second-year pro played in four games as a rookie and recorded four solo tackles. He has also spent time with Seattle and Detroit in 2008. He will wear jersey No. 75.
