JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars announced football promotions today for Shane Waldron (Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator) and Heath Farwell (Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator).
"These elevations for Shane and Heath are certainly well earned, as both were instrumental upon our arrival last year, but more than that, they will be key figures in the coming years as we push to establish a sustainable winning culture here in Jacksonville," said Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen. "Shane and Heath are both well-established, elite football minds and have my complete trust. I am grateful to have them with me and to be able to lean on their expertise and leadership moving forward."
Waldron, 46, enters his second season in Jacksonville after spending 2025 as the Jaguars' pass game coordinator. He has 12 seasons of NFL coaching experience and seven seasons of collegiate experience. Waldron started the 2024 season as offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, and prior to that, spent three seasons as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks (2021-23). In his first season with Jacksonville, the Jaguars set franchise scoring records with 474 points, 27.9 ppg and 55 touchdowns. The team scored 25-plus points in 13 games in 2025, tied for the NFL lead. Their eight straight games with 25-plus points scored from Weeks 9 to 16 also tied for the longest streak in the NFL in 2025. Waldron helped elevate a passing attack that ranked sixth in the NFL in scoring (franchise-record 27.9 ppg) and tied seventh in completions of 20-plus yards (57). QB Trevor Lawrence had a career year and was named an MVP and Comeback Player of the Year finalist as he had a franchise-record 38 total touchdowns, threw for over 4,000 yards and finished fifth in the NFL in passing touchdowns (29).
The 44-year-old Farwell is entering his fifth season in Jacksonville and his 11th season coaching in the NFL. Prior to his time with the Jaguars, he served as the Bills' special teams coordinator (2019-21). The Jaguars have produced at least one special teams Pro Bowler in each of Farwell's four seasons in Jacksonville. In 2025, the Jaguars' special teams unit was one of the league's best. LS Ross Matiscik earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl and Associated Press All-Pro selections. Under Farwell's leadership last season, K Cam Little set franchise records in points (140) and 50-plus yard field goals made (eight). Little also converted the two longest field goals in NFL history at 68 and 67 yards, respectively. With help from Fawell's scheme and expertise, WR Parker Washington set franchise records in punt return touchdowns (two), tied for the most in the league, and yards per punt return (13.6). Last fall, P Logan Cooke placed 10-plus punts inside the 10-yard line for the fourth straight season, one of three punters to do so since 2022. As a team, Jacksonville ranked fifth in yards per punt return and sixth in yards per kickoff return in 2025, one of only two teams to rate among the NFL's top six in both categories.
