Jaguars Thursday: "That Attacking Mentality …"

THURSW5NEWS

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars are hitting the road.

The Jaguars (3-1) will play the Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in a 2026 Week 5 game Sunday, the first of back-to-back international games for the AFC South-leading Jaguars. Here's a look at Thursday around the Jaguars, with coordinators Grant Udinski and Anthony Campanile speaking before practice at the Miller Electric Center and cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter speaking after practice:

Hunter is building confidence, and he is doing it quickly.

The second-year veteran has mostly played defense this season, already playing more snaps at cornerback this season than he did in seven games as a rookie last season.

It has led to results, with Hunter recording an interception and three pass breakups over the last two weeks.

"We have more to prove," Hunter said. "We still have more games. We have more weeks to come, and every team is going to want to beat us. So go out there and play. We have to go out there and win. Nobody is going to give us a win."

Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a stellar performance in a 22-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday with two pass breakups and an interception that was negated by penalty.

"I thought overall that was Travis's best game," Campanile said. "I think he's becoming more comfortable. I talked about last week, too – just his eyes and fundamentals. All that is improving, so I think each week we're seeing more improvement from him."

"He's really working hard at it. He really is." …

Among Campanile's challenges Sunday. A play-caller matchup with someone familiar, first-year Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

Campanile coached with Mannion – who played quarterback in the NFL nine seasons – in Green Bay in 2024, with Campanile serving as the Packers' inside linebackers coach and run-game coordinator and Mannion serving as an offensive assistant. Mannion was promoted to Packers quarterbacks coach in 2025, with the Eagles hiring him as offensive coordinator this past offseason.

Campanile called Mannion a "great football coach" and a "great guy."

"He was an extremely hard worker," Campanile said. "We were both in there late hours a lot. He's one of the guys you would see in there. He's no stranger to hard work. He is a really good football coach – super detailed, really bright. Anybody that's played quarterback that long in the NFL, you has a really good knowledge of the game, and I think he brings that to the offense." …

On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars' offense will face an Eagles defense led by one of the best coordinators of a generation in Vic Fangio. They also will face elite defensive linemen such as Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Jonathan Greenard, Nolan Smith and Moro Ojomi.

"You try to design things to change our protections, to help guys when we need to help," Udinski said. "You mix and match all the different things, whether it's run game or pass game, or the way you're hitting blocks or hitting attacking defensive linemen."

This means another test for a Jaguars offensive line that has faced multiple disruptive defensive linemen already this season.

"We know those guys can move, so they're not going to be in perfect place," Udinski said. "It kind of goes back to that attacking mentality that we talk about with the run game that [Head Coach] Liam [Coen] has established here, that we kind of have to have with attacking personnel.

"Knowing there's going to be a down where one of our offensive linemen is one-on-one with one of those guys and what are the techniques, what are the fundamentals that those guys can fall back on that we've trained all offseason that'll allow them to win there." …

The Jaguars issued the second of three injury reports for the week Wednesday, with eight players listed as practicing limited for a second consecutive day: Left tackle Anton Harrison (elbow), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee), nose tackle DaVon Hamilton (foot), defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (groin), cornerback Jarrian Jones (foot), cornerback Jourdan Lewis (hamstring), cornerback Montaric Brown (hamstring) and cornerback Jaylon Jones (hamstring). Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip) and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb) were listed as practicing full for a second consecutive day, with safety Eric Murray working limited after missing practice Wednesday with a concussion. …
