O-Zone Late Night, Week 7: Rams 35, Jaguars 7

2025 OZONE LN ARTICLE THUMBNAIL

LONDON – Oof. There's really not that much more to say. Time to head home.

Let's get to it …

Marky from Middleburg

When will Trevor Time be over? This guy is maybe an average backup at the best.

I got many emails along these lines throughout the Jaguars' xx-xx loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Wembley Stadium. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence didn't seem to play overly well, particularly early when the game was in doubt, and when quarterbacks don't play particularly well I get emails to this effect. Lawrence not playing particularly well from this view didn't distinguish him many of his teammates Sunday.

Darrell from EC

This season is taking a bad turn. Everything is going wrong. Can they turn things back around? Is the season over yet?

The Jaguars can turn the season around. They are 4-3 and 4-3 is not 1-5. The season isn't remotely over yet.

Hopeless again from Trash Town

Worst team in the league again? I can help with the Jaguars new power ranking this week, 32. Might be a little high, I know.

This is not "helping."

Brett from Seattle

Seems like that Chiefs win was our Super Bowl…now we're checked out and phoning it in :(

Nah.

Oscar from Palm Coast, FL

Few minutes into the second quarter and TL looks as lame as usual. He looks for check downs consistently and holds the ball way to long.every week same interview with him and I quote "II have to do better yada yada yada . He is not our guy period.

Except that he is.

Don from Norfolk

Painful to watch...

Fair.

David from Chippewa Falls

Same old Jags?!? No offense, no defense, and questionable special teams. Has this team crashed back down to reality? Can they only win when getting turnovers?

James from Socorro, NM

Was the 4-1 start a mirage?

The NFL is a week-to-week league. It's also a matchup league. The two-game, pre-bye stretch of the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams was always a sneaky difficult stretch. It also was a very tough matchup stretch.

Jess from Glen Carbon, IL

Illegal block in the back? Ridiculous. That's two horrible calls against the Jaguars.

Gabe from Washington, DC

Total frauds.

Nah. This ain't that. You don't get to 4-3 with three consecutive quality victories if you're not a good team. They're not perfect. They're not close to the best team in the NFL. But the Jaguars aren't "total frauds."

Nancy from Negative

Did we practice this week? I'd love to know what the offense worked on.

The Jaguars did practice this past week.

Jess from Glen Carbon, IL

Unneccesary roughness? That's ridiculous. We'll see how the zebras call the rest of the game, but those are the types of calls that the officials have called against the Jaguars for years that don't seem to get called the other way. It's hard to win playing 11 on 18.

This was the much-ballyhooed, often-errant, sometimes-reprehensible First Email of the Game.

JT from Palm Coast

I think there will be a bunch of change, but it won't happen this season. This team won't win many more games. Not playing like this.

The Jaguars didn't play well Sunday. I don't expect wholescale change in the coming weeks because you can't wholescale change an NFL roster during the regular season. I expect there's a very good chance the Jaguars will make moves to acquire players before the NFL's trade deadline.

Will from Waynesvegas

Man, oh man, it must be nice having a reliably consistent quarterback. Their first drive versis our first drive was absolutely laughable. Let's drop back show off our line that gave up a million sacks the week before. Smart.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is one of the NFL's most-underrated really, really good quarterbacks. His efficiency on the first drive gave the Rams a 7-0 lead and set a tone early in the game. The Jaguars faced third-and-7 and third-and-13 on their first two series and didn't convert either, which also set a tone. The Rams never faced longer than third-and-3 early and led 14-0. The one time the Rams faced third-and-long in the first half was the one time they punted. Third-and-difficult is a hard way to make a living in the NFL.
