Mock Draft Tracker 4.0: Receivers and Cornerbacks Talk of the Week

020524 Mock Draft 4.0

JACKSONVILLE – This was a week for receivers – and for those who cover them.

This is the fourth 2024 jaguars.com mock draft tracker. And it was a week in which analysts projected the Jaguars seeking help for quarterback Trevor Lawrence when projecting the team's selection at No. 17 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Receivers ruled the week, with multiple receivers projected by multiple analysts at No. 17. They were:

  • Brian Thomas, Louisiana State.
  • Keon Coleman, Florida State.
  • Rome Odunze, Washington.
  • Adonai Mitchell, Texas.

"Adonai Mitchell had the breakout season many expected in 2023, and now he's a potential first-round pick," Joe Broback of Pro Football Network wrote, with Oliver Hodgkinson of Pro Football Network writing of Coleman: "The former Michigan State and Florida State WR has the size, speed, sensational body control and super-sticky hands to be a dangerous downfield option."

Cornerbacks were nearly as popular for the Jaguars in the fourth '24 tracker, with three corners – Ennis Rakestraw Jr. of Missouri, Nate Wiggins of Clemson and Kool-Aid McKinstry of Alabama – projected at No. 17 overall.

Other players projected to the Jaguars at No. 17: Florida State edge Jared Verse, UCLA edge Laiatu Latu, Texas defensive lineman Byron Murphy, Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson and Penn State offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu.

"Murphy brings a similar style to the defensive line as an undersized but explosive gap penetrator who can disrupt the pocket and create havoc for opposing offenses," Danny Kelly of the Ringer wrote, with Owain Jones of the Pro Football Network writing of Powers-Johnson: "With his mauler mindset, low pad level, and dense frame at 6-feet-3 and 320 pounds, he can instantly improve the Jaguars' offensive line."
