O-Zone: Big man, high level

JACKSONVILLE – Let's get to it …

David from Eau Claire, WI

On top of the division? Meaningful games in December? Winning is cool. Ready to strap in for the ride.

The 2025 Jaguars are good, which is why they are 8-4 tied for first in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts following Sunday's 25-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, Tenn. They play the Colts Sunday at EverBank Stadium with sole possession of first place at stake – which is pretty much peak meaningful in early December in the NFL. The Jaguars have earned their way here with victories over five teams with records .500 or better – the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans. They have two three-game winning streaks this season. Only two AFC teams have a better record. Sunday absolutely will be a meaningful day in Jacksonville. This is unquestionably cool. This is the fun stuff.

Mike from Ponte Vedra, FL

Last time we were 8-4 and in first place, we ended up 9-7 and out of the playoffs. An easy win Sunday, but still issues. And they're the type of issues that aren't a problem until they are.

The Jaguars have issues. Most NFL teams have issues. It's a week-to-week league. You do whatever you can to win with the issues you have one week and you move on to the next week and try to win again.

Jonathon from Jacksonville

I must admit, I have my doubts and will issue an apology to the team. They are playing with true grit. Now, they have a bigger test next week against the Colts. Soon, we will have that division title!

You go, girl.

David from Orangedale, FL

Not a question, just an observation about Brian Thomas, Jr. On the Jakobi Meyers 50-yard reception, he was 8-10 yards behind Jakobi, accelerated past him and provided an excellent block to get more yardage, plus I think that he caught everything that was thrown his way!

Good eye. Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. had a solid game Sunday in his first game back after missing three games with an ankle injury. He caught 2 passes for 28 yards and had a nice effort/block on the 50-yard reception by wide receiver Jakobi Meyers that you referenced. Thomas had significant drop issues early in the season, but he always worked, always was a good teammate and always gave effort. Sunday was a good step in a good direction.

Nicholas from Fort Hood, TX

KOAF: Did Nissan Stadium – "Home of the Tennessee Titans" – feel like a second home for the Jaguars?

We talk a lot here in the O-Zone about the importance of being nice. This, while admittedly more than a smidge funny, was not nice.

Chris from Mandarin

It's early yet, but Head Coach Liam Coen might be the best thing to happen to the Jaguars in the last 25 years. I'm ready to stop second-guessing this team. Beating the Titans will do that to you.

Coen is a strikingly good head coach. I expect him to be the strikingly good head coach of the Jaguars for a long time.

Brian from Round Rock, TX

Happy to get that win and to be atop the division. Not much of a game to watch, though. Last week was fun, this week felt a little like a waste of time. I guess that's why the league likes parity. I agree. You?

We're talking about grown men paid obscene millions for running around in bright uniforms with helmets with many of those men trying to tackle one man because he's holding a ball. These men take this seriously enough that they sometimes fight with one another and sometimes beat their chests. What is or isn't a waste of time is a matter of perspective, I suppose.

Chris from Tampa, FL

Thirteen penalties Sunday. Add in the Titans penalties and the refs probably need Tommy John surgery. Is it safe to assume that won't be cleaned up this year? That one game seems like an outlier.

That's not safe to assume. The Jaguars will continue to focus on penalties, particularly those of the pre-snap variety. It's an area that can improve.

Cosmo from Kramerica

TCB, Taking Care of Business.

That's a good way to describe what the Jaguars did Sunday. They played methodically, professionally and won in comfortable fashion. Now, they get to do what they have worked to do all season, which is to play big games late in the season. Here we go.

Chiana from Munich

Great win for the Jags. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence played a great, clean game with no head-scratchers. Efficient, using his legs well and leading the team while missing important pieces (again). Want to see the same T-Law to beat the Colts and close in on a playoff spot.

You are not alone.

Big on Blake from Philly

John, in somewhat unspectacular and definitely not convincing fashion, the Jaguars just keep winning. Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals in overtime? Titans, 25-3. There was a lot of mess to clean up and yet they still win. I'm actually very surprised by this because in years past the Jaguars would've found ways to lose many of these games. So seeing as a few of the key Jags are on the injury report, who is due back by season's end to help make the postseason run?! Go Jags!

The NFL is not the Southeastern Conference. You win how you win by as many as you win by. You hope you win enough to make the postseason and then you try win three or four more. Key Jaguars injured players expected to return before the end of the season include right guard Patrick Mekari, wide receiver Parker Washington, left tackle Walker Little, defensive end Travon Walker, defensive tackle Arik Armstead, tight end Hunter Long and safety Eric Murray.

Benjamin from Jacksonville, FL BWO Upstate SC

What did you think of Jaguars punter Logan Cooke getting in the face of a Titans player in defense of safety Andrew Wingard while diligently keeping his arms at his sides, even when being pushed and pulled aggressively?

I laughed.

Darren from Fort Worth, TX

Are you comfortable with Trevor Lawrence's 59% completion percentage? Do you see it as a concern?

Lawrence played well Sunday. Did he miss some throws? Sure. But he is playing with confidence and improving.

John from Merritt Island

We are 8-4, there should be no criticism anywhere. End of story

OK.

Bruz from Lincroft, NJ

Zone, Trevor Lawrence played his most complete game of the season (outside of the win over Kansas City, arguably). I have to give him credit, he managed the game and made timely downfield strikes. Hopefully he can build upon this performance. My question to you is: what is the driving force behind his career-low completion percentage? He is on par with his rookie season under then-Head Coach Urban Meyer. Sub 60% won't cut it in the NFL playoffs, and while drops have been a factor, I wonder if he is still not fully comfortable in Coen's offensive scheme?

I don't know the entire reason for Lawrence's completion percentage this season. Learning and getting comfortable in his first season in Coen's scheme likely is a factor. Gaining trust with new receivers working to become reliable in that system likely is a factor, too. Early-season drops certainly didn't help.

Jim from Middleburg, FL

Hi, John. It looks pretty certain the W-L record will be much better than preseason predictions. It's going to be hard here for anything less than a wild card spot to satisfy fans. This is kind of a reasonable goal with hopes for more, but don't forget this team wins twice the number they lose. I DUUUUVVVAL.

I won't forget.

Fred from Naples, FL

The Jaguars released wide receiver Austin Trammell. Wow, the guy drops one pass and he's cut? You would think we would keep him around as we don't know the extent of Parker Washington's hip injury.

The Jaguars waived Trammell Monday – and while he did have a high-profile drop Sunday, one drop didn't prompt the move.

Josh from Lakewood

"Heavy D" Hamilton also just jumped 14 feet in the air to end the game versus the Raiders a few short weeks ago. Seems like he's having a good season, right? If this team makes a run, the long snapping story has the "stuff" to be pure Jaguars legend.

Jaguars defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton indeed made a huge play to defense a pass in overtime to clinch a victory over the Raiders in Week 9. He also very significantly long-snapped on five snaps in the first half Sunday with the outcome very much still in question. Far more significantly than either of those plays is that Hamilton is playing at an extremely high level – and has been all season. The Jaguars are No. 1 in the NFL against the run and Hamilton is a major reason.
