JACKSONVILLE - Let's get to it...

I think the last thing this team has to do is prove they will show up and win a game they're "supposed" to win and win the division. This is what an elite team will do. I for one think they will. This team has been excellent, but it's time to see if they're elite.
The Jaguars (12-4) play host to the Tennessee Titans (3-13) at EverBank Field Sunday in Week 18 of the 2025 season â with a chance to clinch the AFC South with a victory. They indeed are "supposed" to win because of the teams' respective records entering the game. If they do this, they will continue showing what they have shown all season â that they are a good team capable of beating pretty much any team in the NFL when they play as they are capable of playing. They have won seven consecutive games entering Sunday and they have victories this season over some of the NFL's best teams â including the 13-3 Denver Broncos and 12-4 San Francisco 49ers on the road and the 11-5 Los Angeles Chargers and 11-5 Houston Texans at home. They have beaten teams they're "supposed" to beat and beaten teams that they weren't "supposed" to beat â and they have beaten a few teams when no one was sure what to expect. If the Jaguars win Sunday, they will win the AFC South and prove once again they are a good team. They will then have more to prove in the postseason. That's how this thing works.

Not a question, just a congratulation to Cole Van Lanen for his well-earned reward, to the coaches for helping to bring out the best in him and to the front office for recognizing what he has become and doing the right thing by him.
The Jaguars indeed have signed offensive tackle Cole Van Lanen to a three-year contract extension, a move that became official Saturday morning. Van Lanen, a sixth-round selection by the Green Bay Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft, joined the Jaguars in an August 2022 trade for a 2023 seventh-round draft selection. He was an increasingly valued reserve for the past three seasons, then started at five different offensive line positions â left and right tackle, left and right guard and tackle in a "heavy" package" â this season. He has started at left tackle the past four games and has been one of the Jaguars' best offensive linemen all season. This wasn't as much about doing the right thing by Van Lanen as securing an important player for the foreseeable future. Either way, good for the Jaguars and good for Van Lanen. Well-earned and well-deserved.

The Jags signing Cole Van Lanen to an extension further signals to the rest of the team that they will pay their own for excellent performance. Who, if anyone, do you now think they will hit with the franchise tag? My bet is either running back Travis Etienne Jr. or linebacker Devin Lloyd.
The Jaguars have important, difficult decisions after the season.

Yo, Zone! Let me start by saying, I'm a big fan of Frank Gore and believe he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But before Fred Taylor?! Is there maybe some recency biashere? Again, big fan of Frank, but this just doesn't seem quite right to me.
Former NFL running back Frank Gore made the list of 15 modern-era candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame 2026 class and former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor did not. I agree that Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame and I would have taken Taylor over Gore. But Gore finished his career as the NFL's third all-time leading rusher. That's the sort of career milestone that is going to get awarded by the Hall.

Congrats to Cole Van Lanen. His multiplicity and high-level play have earned him this. This regime, the culture they're putting in place. A+. This is setting the standard that I think we members of DUUUVALL! should become accustomed to. I believe this is the real deal! Earn your spot! Lets win Championships!
One fer the regime. One fer Van Lanen.

Zone, I like how the postseason is shaping up. Assuming the Jags take care of business to close out the season, that is. As the playoff field takes shape, I like our chances. Jags are 5-3 against the most likely playoff teams. Many folks say the playoffs are wide open. I say the AFC is the Jags for the taking and the Super Bowl is within reach. Go Jags!
The Jaguars have been good all season. They have victories over power teams such as the 49ers, Chargers, Texans and Broncos and they have lost to power teams such as the Los Angeles Rams, Texans and Seattle Seahawks. The Jaguars have a chance at a deep playoff run. So do most teams in the postseason field.

There is much talk and hype about how Trevor Lawrence has "arrived." Did he "arrive" back in the 2022-2023 timeframe? What was obvious back then that Trevor had not "arrived?" Why is it different now?
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence played well late in the 2022 season and into the 2023 season, with one reason perhaps being he had adapted by late '22 to a new offense installed that season â and with another reason perhaps being he had a high level of trust in receivers such as tight end Evan Engram and wide receivers Zay Jones, Christian Kirk and Marvin Jones. He played solidly until he sustained a series of injuries late in 2023, then and nothing seemed to work all that well around the franchise in 2024. He has played at an increasingly high level this season as he has gained confidence in Head Coach Liam Coen's offense and in the receivers around him. What's different now from then? More maturity? More confidence? More experience? Probably a combination.

If the Jags lose to the Titans and the Texans win and all the other teams presumed to win, who would the Jags face in the first round?
The Jaguars would play the Texans in Houston in a Wild Card Playoff Game in your scenario.

Zone, do you at least somewhat agree that NFL power polls are nothing but "clickbait?" And to me at least, so are almost all hot takes from national talking heads and most national media articles. They could not care less about respecting or disrespecting the Jaguars. All they care about is viewership and listener ratings and website clicks because that is how they make their money. It makes way more financial sense for them to talk about and praise larger markets or teams with larger fan bases because they have a better chance at more clicks and higher ratings. It's almost all just clickbait.
Of course power polls are for clicks and views. What other purpose would they serve? This is not why people who compile these polls place teams at a certain position. People who compile polls rank teams where they rank them because while they are putting together the polls they happen to believe Team X should be higher than Team Y. There is no conspiracy. Insider tip: These rankings concern fans and observers far more than they concern the people compiling them. Read them. Don't read them. Either way, they're meaningless.

So, as far as Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. goes, I think we're at the point where we'll find out in 2026 whether 2024 or 2025 was the aberration season. The guy still does things like gets downfield and blocks his rear end off, and certainly his big-play threat strains defenses and makes life easier for the other ball catchers on the offense. I don't get the impression it's an effort or "doesn't-care" issue. Here's hoping he starts to return to '24 form right about now. Not just because that would clearly be awesome for the Jaguars in the playoffs. But because he seems like a good guy and teammate ... and that would be awesome for him. Shout out, BT. We out here with you.
One fer BTJ.

Hey, KOAF. Why was Walker Little in at right guard over Wyatt Milum? Milum just not ready to jump into the fire like Monheim?
Rookie Jonah Monheim is the Jaguars' backup center, so he's the player who plays when starter Robert Hainsey is unavailable. Little at this point is the top backup for guard or tackle so he plays if a starter at that position is unavailable. Rookie guard Wyatt Milum figures prominently into this team's plans moving forward. This is depth.

This Sunday's game against the Titans is the most important game in franchise history.
Yep.
