JACKSONVILLE – Let's get to it …
Josh from Jacksonville
James Gladstone has made a lot of trades in his first season. Wide receiver Christian Kirk, offensive lineman Fred Johnson, center Luke Fortner, running back Tank Bigsby, cornerback Tyson Campbell, wide receiver Tim Patrick. Some player for player, some for late-round picks, cap relief. I get it. He seems to be doing things his own way, not carbon-copying Les Snead, as the Rams have made zero trades this season. What are your thoughts on this approach to roster building?
I expect Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone to generally emphasize the draft while building the roster and to use trades/free agency when necessary. Trades/free agency are generally more necessary early in a "regime" than later as that regime moves on from a previous regime's players and makes short-term acquisitions to full roles until drafted players can be developed for those roles. I therefore expect Gladstone to generally use these avenues less as time moves forward. Generally. Remember, though: The Los Angeles Rams under General Manager Les Snead have approached roster-building in multiple ways. They emphasized trades and free agency more at times late in the last decade and they are emphasizing more drafting now. Gladstone had a major influence on their recent approach, but I expect his approach with the Jaguars to be long-term draft with short-term moves (free agency/trade) as needed. Generally.

Do you think Trevor Lawrence is a good quarterback? In my opinion, a good quarterback will often help hide a team's deficiencies. Lawrence seems to only amplify them.
Lawrence is a developing quarterback in his first season in a new offensive system. He generally played better in Weeks 4-6 of the 2025 season than he did early in the season and did not play all that well in the seventh game of the 2025 season. He's not yet a quarterback who lifts those around him or hides teammates' deficiencies. I wouldn't necessarily say Lawrence amplifies the Jaguars' other issues.

I can't believe that our record got changed to 0-7 because of that loss ... oh, wait ... it didn't? We're still over .500?!?! Look y'all, I get the frustration with such an ugly loss and back-to-back losses, but acting like the season is over is silly. Am I the only one who remembers WAY worse Jags teams of past years?
One would hope not.

So obviously some changes are coming on the personnel side, but regarding the players currently in the building … when does Wyatt Milum get a shot over Pat "3 Flags" Mekari? I heard all summer about the physical edge he brought, then he has been injured or a healthy scratch for most of the games so far. Isn't two awful games giving up 14 sacks enough to shake up the offensive Line?
I wouldn't be surprised if rookie guard Wyatt Milum gets an opportunity soon. The Jaguars like him a lot and view him as an eventual starter. There's a bye Sunday and a game the following Sunday.

Do you expect the Jaguars to draft a quarterback in any round of the 2026 draft?
Ten games remain in the 2025 NFL season. I don't have the foggiest idea who the Jaguars will select in the 2026 NFL Draft and I suspect that's almost equally true of the Jaguars.

Hi, KOAGF - I will give credit to Lawrence in that he isn't as careless with protecting the ball as past seasons. Not sure if he has fumbled yet this season and a much cleaner touchdown/interception ratio in recent games. My heart doesn't skip that beat when he scrambles now. Do you see the same or is this my perception?
Lawrence generally has protected the ball well this season.

I have been a Trevor defender throughout his career and no matter what, he's our quarterback for now. But even I can't deny what I've seen throughout his career. As a whole, he is a quarterback that seems to struggle with seeing the field and has accuracy issues.
He could be better in these areas.
Rommel from Jacksonville
Does Trevor Lawrence throw the ball too hard to his receivers? Does he need to add a bit of touch and take some velocity off his short passes to make them more catchable? Please help me make sense of this.
Lawrence at times could throw the ball with better touch. I don't think this fully explains the drops issues of the Jaguars' wide receivers this season.

Gladstone needs to do some serious changes to the makeup of this team this year and next. We just don't have the talent yet to compete with the elite teams – Trevor included, the way he is playing.
There's a limit to how much a general manager can "change the makeup" of a team during the regular season. Gladstone and the Jaguars moved as significantly as possible last offseason to reshape the roster and I expect more changes this offseason. One offseason doth not a roster reshape make.

Unquestionably, the last two weeks were rough. It's no surprise to me that the offense struggled early the last two weeks and never really found itself, nor the issue with penalties. The pattern is established, so expecting anything else seems silly. However, I'll be pleased when (not if) it gets corrected. At the start of the season, I didn't envision the team being 4-3 at the bye. Heck, the Jags should be 5-2 in my opinion. Recency bias is a bear because the prevailing thought was the Jags were likely going to be a better team later in the season than early. Look at the opponents in the next five games. The team has given themselves a chance to come out after the bye and perform to their high expectations. Will it happen or won't is the roller coaster on which we all ride. Much like a roller coaster, us fans can't control the track, so I'm here for the ride and sure hope it's a good one in the end. I'm flying down from New Jersey with my kids to see them play the Jets in December. Will I be disappointed if they lose? You betcha. However, I refuse to let my favorite team's development ruin a good time. Go Jags regardless of record, coach, quarterback or general manager.
Have a safe flight. Pack snacks.

Why does it feel as if every pass TLaw throws requires the receiver to make an acrobatic catch or no catch at all? I mean, should it always be this difficult to throw and catch in the NFL?
It probably feels that way because Lawrence throws inaccurately at times and it frustrates fans when their quarterbacks miss throws. This frustration causes fans to forget good throws – and Lawrence indeed makes good throws – and remember bad throws. It probably doesn't help that the Jaguars have lost two consecutive games. Losing sucks.

Hello, John. Out of the 16 teams in the AFC, only three teams have a better record today than the Jaguars.
Good eye.

Hi, KOAGF. I think we have a larger issue than the Jags beating themselves. It's something about the Colts being very hot and beating very good teams.
The Indianapolis Colts look very good. They're the favorites in the AFC South and one of the best teams in the AFC. But that's not even close to a larger issue for the Jaguars than the Jaguars beating themselves. Beating themselves is preventing them from even giving themselves a chance to win. There's no issue even close to as important for the Jaguars right now.
Jeremy from Wise, VA
I don't think we have to worry about defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile leaving as a head coach candidate.
The NFL is a week-to-week league.

Trevor was a great running quarterback at Clemson. Why not give him more designed runs? Mahomes runs a lot. It may give him some confidence and be like a jolt of energy in him and on the team to see those blonde locks go horizontal. He's generally not run a lot and what would be the reasons for him to not go full Lamar Johnson?
Professional football is not college football and Lawrence does not move with the agility and body control of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – or the once-in-a-generation speed and instincts of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, also known in some circles as Lamar Johnson. Why not give Lawrence more designed runs? Injuries, for one. Considering the ends of the last two seasons, that one is enough.

This feels a lot like last year and the year before that and so many years prior. This team is cursed.
No, it's not.
