JACKSONVILLE – Let's get to it …

That might have been the best game of Trevor Lawrence's career.
Agreed. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed 17 of 30 passes for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 36-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday – and while those aren't the most eye-catching statistics in NFL history, Lawrence unquestionably played very well in this very big game. He threw deep accurately and completed four critical "explosive" passes – two of which set up first-half touchdowns and one of which set up a third-quarter field goal. Those sorts of plays have been missing from the Jaguars' offense this season until Sunday. If this marks the beginning of such plays being more the norm, then this offense can quickly go from good/developing to very good/great. Lawrence also played with poise Sunday, not committing a turnover in difficult conditions and converting several critical plays by running. He has played with increased confidence each of the last three weeks and has shown rapid – and encouraging – improvement since Head Coach Liam Coen began encouraging him to "Let it Rip." This is very intriguing and encouraging stuff for an already improving team.

As a season-ticket holder since Day 1, I was probably spoiled with early success which probably makes me more frustrated and critical when they play poorly. That being said, I think this is the best I've seen TL play since he has been a Jaguar. Really excellent game all around and even fun sitting in the rain to watch.
He's getting there.
Eddie from Jacksonville
The win is great, but it's another game where Trevor didn't throw for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns. Can we please call him a bust?
Eddie's got jokes.

The NFL is wide open this year and this team is peaking at the right time. This year's team is different. Love this coaching staff. Lawrence looks more confident. Defense is playing better. Maybe that Houston loss was the best thing that could have happened for us. Whatever it is, I am hooked!!!
I'm not one who generally believes losses are good, and the NFL typically is such a week-to-week league that what happens in one game – good or bad – doesn't always have a discernible effect on the future. In this case, there's little question that the Jaguars have been at least somewhat motivated by a 36-29 Week 10 loss to the Houston Texans in which they squandered a 19-point fourth-quarter lead. Coen said as much Sunday. So did running back Travis Etienne Jr. The defense has been much better since that game, particularly rushing the passer. The Jaguars clearly believe they're a better, more-mature team than that loss showed. The four consecutive victories since are proving them right.

The historic collapse in Houston might have been the best thing to happen to this team.
Maybe.
Alex from Apex, NC
The TV announcers had suggested it, but do you feel like the late game collapse to the Texans has been the catalyst to this string of dominant performances?
It evidently hasn't hurt.
Jim from Jagsonville
Nick Mullens who? It's his third time in this season and I still ain't heard of him! Go Jaguars!!
Mullens is the Jaguars' backup quarterback. He played late in the game Sunday. There's not much more to say except we don't want to hear of him too, too often.
Brian from St John's, FL
Is Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen now one of the top 10 Jaguars?
Hines-Allen – who had a sack and a safety in the fourth quarter Sunday – is damned sure in the conversation, and he's damned sure playing as well in the last four weeks as he has at any point in his seven seasons.

That jump cut during the run by running back Travis Etienne Jr. on the Jags' possession after the Colts field goal reminded me of a certain Jaguars running back from the past. Also, PROWLERS!
I always lean away from comparing current running backs to former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor because Taylor was at an all-time level – and therefore very, very difficult to match. But Etienne has been uber-impressive this season, maturing as a runner and turning in what from which view is the best of the four seasons in which he has started at running back for the Jaguars. He rushed for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries and continues to be perhaps the Jaguars' Most Valuable Player offensively this season. Good stuff from a very impressive, likable player.

Do you hear the players discuss how they ignore all negativity? It is so frustrating as a fan to see all the mean and nasty things "fans" say about the team. My favorite thing about this team is the closeness and love and respect they all have for each other! Thanks for all your hard work, John.
Fans fan, Heather. It's what they do.
John from Minneapolis, MN
No question from me, just exciting times we're living in, eh? Every week we're improving! Duuuuval
The Jaguars' improvement this season has been remarkable. They have been good all season – and while adapting the roster and adjusting to injuries, they are better now than they were in September. That's not easy in the NFL and it's as impressive a development as I've covered in some time. I expected this team to be anywhere from OK-to-good this season. They're better than that. We'll see how much better in the coming weeks.
Ken from Jacksonville
Just admit it was: 1) Prowlers 2) Wrist Band and 3) Coaching. I love this team. Jags Super Bowl bound!
Winning is cool. Kevin likes it.

Cheers to Trevor Lawrence on another clean game. And cheers to the entire team for another clean game. They took control of the game and won with relative ease. Great game plan and another team victory. So now the question, is 12 wins a possibility? I would say yes. What say you, KOAF? While everyone will want to focus on the Denver Broncos in two weeks. We need to focus on the Jets as they are the next game up. Let's fill the 'Bank with fans and take care of business.
The Jaguars won't focus on the Broncos this week. The focus will be on the New York Jets. The Jaguars are 9-4 and need to go 3-1 to win 12 games. Yes, that's a possibility. Thirteen victories are also a possibility. So are 9, 10 and 11 victories.
Josh from Atlanta, GA
I just cannot say it enough. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers truly changed this offense. Absolutely incredible what he has brought to everyone around him, on top of his own receptions. Agree at all?
Absolutely.
Bryan from Tampa, FL
I would have preferred to beat Indy with them being fully healthy the whole game, but dang that was a pretty victory. What surprised you the most about how that game unfolded?
Nothing happened Sunday to indicate the result would have been different had the Colts been healthier. I say that not to diminish the importance of Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, who left the game in the first half with an Achilles injury, but to emphasize that the Jaguars played well enough to convincingly beat a lot of teams under any circumstance Sunday. What surprised me the most? How consistently the Jaguars' offense was able to hit explosive pass plays in key moments. It's not that the unit isn't capable of such things, but that hadn't been part of the offense this season. And suddenly it was.
Andy from Halifax
Dang, and we're getting healthy, too.
Yep.
Jeremy from Riverview
Hey John, no complaint, just an observation. It seems quite possible the Jaguars could make the playoffs without a single pro bowler on the roster. That would just be unusual to me. Do you think that's likely to happen?
I expect players such as defensive tackle Arik Armstead, long snapper Ross Matiscick and punt returner Parker Washington have a good chance to be selected to the Pro Bowl. But could they make the postseason without a Pro Bowl selection? Sure.
Bruce from Saint Simons Island, GA
O, One thing seems clear about the Jaguars this season: They have a very good, perhaps great coaching staff. I think you would agree?
It's always coaching in the NFL.
Tony from Johns Creek, GA
O, Cole Van Lanen is the Jaguars offensive MVP.
Van Lanen on Sunday started at his fifth different offensive line position of the season. He has started at left tackle, left guard, right guard, right tackle and big – "extra" tackle. He started at left tackle Sunday. He's not the MVP, but he's critical to this team.
Big Jags Fan from Jacksonville
Not the "same old Jags," aye O?
They haven't been the "same old Jags" at any point this season.
