JACKSONVILLE – Let's get to it …
Sam from Sacramento, CA
Does this increase the chances of ETN coming back next year? Or do you see it still being some form of Tuten, Allen and someone maybe like Ja'Quinden Jackson next year?
The Jaguars on Tuesday traded third-year running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fifth- and sixth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. This leaves Travis Etienne Jr. and rookies Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr. as the three running backs on the roster. Bigsby's trade increases at least somewhat the chances of Etienne returning in his sixth NFL season next season, though the reality of those chances remains to be seen. This is not remotely a criticism of Etienne, who rushed for 143 yards and 16 carries against the Carolina Panthers in the 2025 regular-season opener this past Sunday. But the Jaguars selected Tuten in the third round of the '25 draft with the idea that he eventually will start and they like Allen very much. Many teams take the approach of rotating younger backs on their first contract rather than signing veterans on second contracts. It's a long season and much must play out before we know Etienne's future. What we do know is he's critical to this offense in the present.

Tank for a fifth- and sixth-round round pick? With Travis in the last year of his contract and only a single game for the running backs drafted by this regime, help me make sense of this. Did something happen behind the scenes we don't know about?
The Jaguars like Etienne, Tuten and Allen better than they liked Bigsby and believed they're better fits for this team and offense than Bigsby. That's how it makes sense.

So with the Tank trade, how many draft picks do we have in next yrs draft now O-man?
The Jaguars now have 13 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft: Round 2 (one), Round 3 (three), Round 4 (one), Round 5 (three), Round 6 (one), Round 7 (four).

John. Not the email I wanted to send. The trade of Tank is the first misstep by the Triumvirate. Tank has big unrealized potential that was not achieved under the Doug Pederson regime and the Lian Coen crew also apparently gave up on him too soon. They will say it is about not enough game jerseys on Sunday, but the truth is that they essentially gave away a good asset for nothing. Plus, it is a vibe killer showing that the leadership can get rid of a player one day after disingenuously praising his contribution.
The Jaguars received a fifth-round and sixth-round selection for Bigsby, with the fifth-rounder potentially becoming a fourth-rounder. The vibe around the Jaguars feels just fine.

Trade, Trade, Trade. Good luck, Tank. Best wishes in Philadelphia. Hey O, can we get a heads up first on here before it's all over ever other news media?
Not likely – or at least very rarely. The Jaguars, like a lot of team websites/media, typically announce trades and signings when they are official or at least very close to official. More traditional media report these trades when they are agreed upon and therefore that news typically will appear there more quickly.

How do you celebrate victory Monday?
I'm not allowed to say.

Maason Smith healthy scratch. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? That is all, as you were.
Smith, a second-year defensive tackle, was among six inactive players for the Jaguars against the Panthers Sunday. He had spent most of 2025 Training Camp on the physically unable to perform list. Head Coach Liam Coen addressed this Monday: "It came down to lack of reps and opportunities throughout the training camp. We want to get him out there and want to get him going. It's a guy that we have confidence moving forward with that we want to get into the fold. We fully expect him to continue to grow, continue to go in the right direction and help us contribute."

Thirteen picks in next year's draft; can finding depth in the middle rounds with so many picks be a big step in putting this franchise in a position to stay competitive for the next decade or so without running into salary cap problems?
Finding depth in the middle rounds of the draft is important to remain competitive for the next two or three seasons. Finding quality at the top of the draft also is important. The Jaguars played big – and played well – in free agency this past offseason. I expect them to want to play smaller there in the future and be more draft-centric.

Fifth-round pick for a running back, how could they have possibly said no? I love it. But also, I hate it because I really liked Tank Bigsby here.
One fer the trade and not fer losing Bigsby.

Now that Tank Bigsby is gone, how significant can we expect the two rookies to make an impact? I know the new regime drafted them and wants to use them and obviously thinks well of them. Objectively what can we expect these two guys behind a top tier RB Etienne?
I expect Tuten and Allen to play significant roles – and to play a lot in the Jaguars' offense this season along with Etienne.

Hi KOAGF - What happened to Parker Wahington? He wasn't targeted once in Game 1. Do you think this is an anomaly or is his role mostly on special teams now? I heard he had a great training camp.
Jaguars third-year wide receiver Parker Washington had an outstanding training camp, perhaps the best camp of any Jaguars receiver. I expect coaches to work to get Washington opportunities. That work is difficult because Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown and Travis Hunter also play for the Jaguars, as do tight end Brenton Strange and three very good running backs.
Joe from Jacksonville
So what does this mean for Travis Etienne? Calais Campbell called Etienne something along the lines of a "quicker Alvin Kamara," who I always thought was the perfect type back for Liam Coen's offense. Think the staff wants him around next year?
Sixteen games remain in the 2025 regular season.

Do you feel the team trading Tank signals they will be resigning Travis ETN, or are they not related? Sure they wouldn't trade Tank and just let Travis walk, I feel like that would create a big hole we don't need.
Running back is a young man's game and the Jaguars have 13 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. I hope the Jaguars re-sign Etienne. He's one of my favorite players on this team.

It seems like Dewey is always right behind the defensive line filling a gap like a linebacker when the running back comes through. I love it. He doesn't seem like a big guy to me. Certainly not the size of a linebacker, right? Just impressive. Would he be considered more of the "in-the-box" type of safety anywhere or just in this scheme? Thanks, O.
Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard would be considered an in-the-box safety by most teams. He also would be considered a very good, smart safety – and that's why he's starting for the Jaguars.
Craig from Holly Springs, NC
John, I had a few thoughts on the Jaguars since Sunday: We got great value for Bigsby. He was a backup running back who catches no balls out of the backfield and got two picks for him. Secondly, it seemed there was a lot more motion on the offense Sunday against the Panthers compared to previous seasons. Lastly, win or lose on Sunday against the Bengals, week three suddenly looks like a big game home against the Texans. They have the Bucs this week, and a win against them would be huge this early in the season. What are I your thoughts?
I think Tuten, Etienne and Allen are a bit more versatile than Bigsby and therefore are a bit better fits for this offense than Bigsby. I think there is a loooooot of motion in Coen's offense. I think the game against the Texans will be the first AFC South game and a big game.

So if we don't win, we suck. If we win but don't play perfectly, we suck. If we win against a team we should beat, we suck because they are suckier. Reminds me of an old Groucho Marx line: I would never join a club that would have me as a member. One team wins, the other one is in "coulda, woulda, shoulda" mode for a week.
