JACKSONVILLE – LeQuint Allen Jr.'s smiling these days.
That's hardly unusual for the Jaguars' second-year running back, and it's not just because he likes what's going on around the Miller Electric Center as the 2026 offseason closes and the regular season approaches. But make no mistake:
Allen absolutely likes the feeling around the Jaguars.
"We're moving in the right direction," Allen said.
Allen, a seventh-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft who emerged as a contributor and leader in his rookie season, joined senior writer John Oehser for this 2026 offseason O-Zone Podcast. He discussed multiple topics, including what's good in the direction around the franchise.
"We're connecting," Allen said. "The vets are taking care of the younger guys and building relationships. Everyone has the same goal. Once that happens, it's easier because we're more connected."
Allen's also smiling these days because he feels stronger and faster entering his second NFL season. He's ready to contribute in a balanced, versatile running back room that includes – among others – second-year veteran Bhayshul Tuten and veteran Chris Rodriguez Jr.
"We have to move as one," he said. "We're a unit. We need everyone. The coaches determine my role. I determine my effort and what I establish on the field when it's time."
Added Allen: "I want to be prepared for this season. The train is leaving. We're going toward a common goal. We're going to dominate every opponent who comes our way because we've worked too hard."

Allen also on the podcast discussed his in-game – and in-practice – approach. Known around the Jaguars for his smile and positive approach, he's also known for his willingness – and eagerness – to confront and "irritate" opponents.
"I've got to mess with everyone that's not on the Jaguars," he said with a smile. "That's my mindset. You're trying to stop us from getting to our goals. I don't like that too much. I feel like everyone with the opposite jersey, attack them. That's football."
And if there's anything Allen knows – and anything that makes him smile – it's that.
"I love football," he said. "I love everything that has to do with football. Football is a collective sport. That means I have to make sure my teammates are in their best state of mind and moving right and that they're not thinking about anything negative.
"I tell them, 'Always think positive. I'm right by your side all the time. No matter what. If you're winning or losing, I'm going to be right there helping you.' That comes with loving the game of football and living the process over the results.
"I just love the game and everything that comes with it."
