"Time will tell if McCown can lead a productive offense, but the Jaguars' receivers are clearly excited about his prospects. There's been a lot of concern about the state of the passing attack. "Loyal readers of this web site – he knows who he is – undoubtedly have tired of hearing how you can't predict the regular season based on the preseason, but it's worth saying one more time. It's simply not a proper gauge for how a team will fare."  jaguars.com

Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com looks around the AFC South as Kickoff Weekend approaches.

"Our resume speaks for itself," defensive end Robert Mathis offered. "We&39;re not a team that&39;s just going to lay down for anybody, I don&39;t care who&39;s in or who&39;s out. That&39;s just not what we do here. If you want to count us out, by all means, do that."  Indianapolis Star

The last word

"It's going to be a lot of fun.  It's been a long time and something I have worked hard for, gone through injuries for, and I'm more excited about the opportunity to get in and work with the group of men we have on this team and the work they have put in through a tumultuous offseason and a lockout, all the things we have gone through, and to suit up and open up the season on 9/11 weekend, Kickoff Weekend, we're real excited about what we're going to put on the field."
