Campbell: AFC Defensive Player of the Week

JACKSONVILLE – Calais Campbell is a player of the week yet again.

Campbell, the Jaguars' 12th-year veteran defensive end and defensive co-captain, has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a Week 3 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Campbell, a Pro Bowl selection each of the past two seasons, registered seven solo tackles, including three sacks and another tackle for loss last Thursday. It marked his second game with the Jaguars with at least three sacks, having registered a franchise-record four sacks in a victory over the Houston Texans in Week 1 in 2017.

Campbell is the lone player in Jaguars history with multiple three-sack games, and he has six multi-sack games since joining the franchise in 2017.

Campbell's 28 sacks since joining the Jaguars rank third in the NFL during that span.

Campbell is the first Jaguars player to earn AFC Player of the Week honors since wide receiver/punt returner Jaydon Mickens earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in 2017 Week 14. He became the first Jaguars player named AFC Defensive Player of the Week since cornerback A.J. Bouye earned the honor in 2017 Week 10.

Campbell previously earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week in 2017 Week 1, and also was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week in 2012 Week 2 while with Arizona. He was the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2009 Week 2.
