O-Zone Late Night, 2026 Week 5: Jaguars 19, Eagles 17

OZONE LATE NIGHT

LONDON – The Jaguars won.

Yes, they really won. Despite the chances seeming remote much of the game – and really remote at the end. Despite too many penalties. Despite a slew of missed opportunities.

Yes, they really won – and because this is the NFL, how Sunday's 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looked at times doesn't matter. Not a bit. At least not in the gloriously memorable celebration that followed kicker Cam Little's 57-yard goal as time expired.

There's a lot to discuss with this one. The Jaguars didn't play remotely perfectly. Head Coach Liam Coen afterward said he wasn't even sure the Jaguars deserved to win – an understandable sentiment considering the Eagles took the lead on a 48-yard field goal with :08 remaining.

The Jaguars needed something of a miracle at that point. Miraculously they got just that in the form of a 53-yard kickoff return by veteran running back/returner Ameer Abdullah to set up Little's game-winner.

That wasn't the entire story Sunday. It's the part that will linger in our collective memories. Gloriously and miraculously.

Let's get to it

John from Merritt Island, FL

A question after a statement. A great win. Thrilled we are 4-1. Was that a great win from a gritty team? Or, was that the perfect example of a "lucky to win" game from a lucky Sunday afternoon?

It was a great victory from a gritty team. It was a perfect example of maybe being a little lucky, but also playing hard and being very aware and making plays in big moments. A win is a win is a win is a win – and the thing about the NFL is if you keep yourself in the game and keep playing and you give yourself a chance at the end, sometimes it goes your way.

Dwayne from Jacksonville

I never doubted! Gotta go. Paramedics are here cuz of my coronary.

Winning is cool. Fans like it. Paramedics are another story.

Pete from Daytona Beach, FL

I thought I'd seen it all when it comes to the NFL. I guess not.

It was a good game, the kind fans remember for a long time. It was the kind that reminds us why the NFL is such compelling theatre. It also was the kind good teams win and the kind teams that put together special seasons win from time to time.

Jesse from Texas

I have this message pre-typed and ready to go. I am hitting submit immediately when the Eagles kickoff so hopefully, I will be the first email of the game. Go Jags!

This was the much-ballyhooed, rarely-anticipated, sometimes-angry First Email of the Game – and it remains true that somewhere somehow someone will find a way to ruin everything.

Rick from Fleming Island, FL

Pay Parker!!!

This email came following wide receiver Parker Washington's 51-yard catch-and-run touchdown that gave the Jaguars a 7-0 lead with 5:26 remaining in the first quarter Sunday. Considering the timing, and the fact that Washington is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2026 season, and considering Washington's 27-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter was more impressive – and perhaps even more important than his 51-yarder – it was an understandable sentiment.

Josh from Atlanta, GA

This was the most wildly pro-opponent "home" crowd I've ever heard.

I got many, many emails about the crowd Sunday being pro-Eagles to a remarkable degree. I will answer this one, and perhaps no more. Not because I didn't hear the crowd, but because there's not much to say about the crowd. The Eagles have a large, loyal fan base – as might be expected from a "legacy" team from a large city. Their fans were loud Sunday. Credit to them. They traveled well.

Bobby from Summerville, SC

KOAF, did that just happen? That was the most beautiful, ugly win I have ever seen! Go Jags!!

Professional football at its highest level is not for the faint of heart.

Dale from PVB

This is ridiculous. Year of the zebra??

The Jaguars were penalized 13 times for 125 yards in a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday. They were penalized 13 times for another 100 yards Sunday. Some were certainly "real penalties." Perhaps they all were. Anything is possible.

Tom from The Mean Streets of Nocatee

And here's to you, Mr. Hamilton.

Jaguars nose tackle DaVon Hamilton has played at a high level all season after playing at a high level last season. His fourth-and-1 stop on Eagles running back Will Shipley stopped an Eagles drive at the Jaguars 37 in the first quarter Sunday. The Jaguars took a 7-0 lead three plays later on Washington's first touchdown. Hamilton also received deserved praise for filling in as a long snapper when Ross Matiscik was out with a shoulder injury for the final three quarters. Not everyone always notices nose tackles. Hamilton's playing well enough that people notice him. Good on him and good for the Jaguars.

Jason from Rochester, MN

D-Ham is this team's MVP this week.

He's in the discussion. But that's true most weeks.
