The Jaguars have signed first-year punter Tony Yelk to a contract. Yelk, 25, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons and was in the Falcons' training camp last summer.
As a senior at Iowa State in 2005, Yelk was the team's kickoff specialist and recorded 34 touchbacks on 67 kickoffs. The 6-1, 205-pound Yelk was Iowa State's punter for three seasons and punted 73 times for a 41.4 average with 19 punts inside the 20 as a junior. He was selected as first-team freshman All-America and to the All-Big 12 freshman team in 2001.
Yelk is from Poynette, Wisc., and will wear jersey number four.
