JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars were expected to make a flurry of roster moves on Sunday.

They did exactly that. And then some.

The Jaguars, a day after officially trimming their roster to 53 players, on the Sunday afternoon before the start of the 2013 regular season claimed a dizzying seven players off waivers from other teams, a list that included:

Former Packers tight end D.J. Williams, former Eagles linebacker Chris McCoy, former Seahawks strong safety Winston Guy, former Eagles tight end Clay Harbor, former Vikings wide receiver Stephen Burton, former Falcons offensive guard Jacques McClendon and former Bears linebacker J.T. Thomas.

The team did not initially announce the seven additional roster moves needed to keep the roster at 53 players.

Williams (6-2, 245) has nine receptions for 70 yards in two NFL seasons. He is considered more of a receiving tight end than a blocker, having been selected by Green Bay in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft from Arkansas.

McCoy (6-3, 251), a seventh-round selection by the Miami Dolphins in the 2010 NFL Draft from Middle Tennessee State, also has spent time with Houston, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia in the NFL and Calgary of the Canadian Football League. He was with Calgary the past two seasons, registering five sacks. He spent this past offseason with Philadelphia, is listed as a first-year veteran and has not been active in an NFL regular-season game.

Guy (6-1, 218), a sixth-round selection by the Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft from Kentucky, played in two games for the Seahawks last season.

Harbor (6-3, 252), a fourth-round selection by the Eagles in the 2010 NFL Draft from Missouri State, played 39 games in three seasons with Philadelphia, catching 47 passes for 421 yards and four touchdowns.

Burton (6-1, 225), a seventh-round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft from West Texas A&M, played 15 games in two seasons with the Vikings, catching seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

McClendon (6-3, 324), originally a fourth-round selection by the Colts in the 2010 NFL Draft from Tennessee, also has spent time with Detroit, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. He played four games for the Colts in 2010.

Thomas (6-1, 236), originally a sixth-round selection in the 2011 Draft from West Virginia, played in 16 games last season, registering five tackles.

Five veteran players were released or waived today in DB Antwon Blake, TE Brett Brackett, DT Kyle Love, WR Jordan Shipley and LB Andy Studebaker.  Also waived were first-year C Dan Gerberry and rookie FB Lonnie Pryor.

The Jaguars signed seven players to their practice squad and all seven spent the preseason with the club.  The following players were added to the practice squad: DB Marcus Burley, DE Ryan Davis, WR Jeremy Ebert, OL Drew Nowak, WR Tobais Palmer, QB Matt Scott and DB Steven Terrell.
