Jaguars make more roster moves

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed third-year cornerback Darcel McBath and second-year cornerback Robert McClain to the active roster.  Rookie safety Chris Prosinski (thumb) and cornerback T.J. Heath (shoulder) were placed on injured reserve.  Former Georgia kicker Brandon Coutu was signed to the practice squad while offensive lineman George Bussey and cornerback Talmadge Jackson were waived from the practice squad.

The Jaguars currently have 53 players on the active roster, 22 players on injured reserve and five players on the practice squad. 

McBath, 6-1, 198, played in 20 games with one start for Denver after being selected in the second round of the 2009 draft.  He has 30 career tackles, two interceptions, four passes defensed and 13 special teams tackles.  He spent the 2011 preseason with the Broncos and was waived on Sept. 4.  McBath recorded both of his career interceptions as a rookie and led the team with 11 special teams tackles.  He appeared in seven games in 2010 and had 15 solo tackles and two special teams tackles. 

A native of Gainesville, Texas, McBath was a four-year letterman at Texas Tech where he totaled 224 tackles, 12 interceptions and 30 passes defensed.  He was an All-Big 12 Conference selection in each of his final three seasons.  As a senior, he started all 13 games and registered 75 tackles and seven interceptions.  He attended Gainesville High School where he led his team to 16-0 record and the Class 3A Division I title as a senior. 

McBath will wear jersey number 38.

McClain, 5-9, 195, was a seventh-round draft pick of Carolina in 2010 and played in 16 games with two starts as a rookie for the Panthers.  He spent the 2011 preseason with the club before he was waived on Sept. 3.  He ranked third on the team with 11 special teams tackles and added seven tackles on defense and one pass defensed as a rookie. 

A four-year letterman at Connecticut, McClain's career totals included 129 tackles, 10 interceptions, 14 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.  He also returned 15 kickoffs for 271 yards and 23 punts for 274 yards and one touchdown.  He was a second-team All-Big East selection as a senior.  He is a native of Lusby, Maryland and attended Patuxent High School. 

McClain will wear jersey number 39.

Coutu was a seventh-round draft pick of Seattle in 2008 and made the 53-man roster as a rookie but was inactive for all 16 games.  He was released prior to training camp in 2009 and did not play football in 2009 or 2010.  He signed with the Seahawks as a free agent on July 20, 2011 and was waived on Aug. 30.  In 43 games at Georgia, Coutu scored 262 points and was successful on 51 of 64 field goal attempts.  He was an All-SEC honorable mention selection as a senior.  The Lawrenceville, Georgia native attended Collins Hill High School where he was a first-team all-state selection.  He will wear jersey number 7.
