Jaguars Play with Legends

Spring is here, so let the golf begin! Jacksonville Jaguars players Tony Boselli, Carnell Lake, Kevin Hardy, and former punter Bryan Barker took part in the Legends Challenge Golf Event that was held at the World Golf Village.

They were teamed with Senior PGA Tour players Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jim Colbert, Andy North, and Jim Dent. The team of Hardy and North were the big winners earning $7,500 for Kevin's designated charity, the YIELD Foundation. Boselli had the shot of the day when he nailed a 30-foot, eagle putt at the par-5 13th hole. With that putt, the Jaguars all-pro offensive tackle earned $1,500 for The Boselli Foundation.

Jim Colbert made a 6-foot birdie putt to win $3,000 for Barker's LET US PLAY! Foundation. The team of Dent and Lake was awarded $1,000 to be used for scholarship aid at Episcopal High School.

All four NFL players had a hand in putting the ball in great scoring position, but at times everyone could see why these guys play in the NFL and not on the PGA Tour.

Here is a synopsis of how all four charities benefited from the Jaguars being involved:

The Boselli Foundation- Tony Boselli

The Boselli Foundation, which also receives annual support from NFL Charities, strives to help children become champions at home, at school and on the playing field. Successful programs include the Most Valuable Teacher Award, Shop with a Jock, a golf fund-raiser and youth football clinic, and the Score for Scholarships program.

The Yield Foundation- Kevin Hardy

Kevin Hardy's YIELD (Youth Institute for Education, Leadership and Development) Foundation was established in 1997 to support young people in the community...through the Foundation he organizes several special events each year to benefit youth, including annual holiday visits to local children's hospitals where he delivers gifts.

The Episcopal High School Scholarship Fund- Carnell Lake

This scholarship fund at the Episcopal High School will assist deserving children by way of scholarship aid to attend this private school.

The Let Us Play Foundation- Bryan Barker

Bryan Barker's LET US PLAY! Foundation sponsors the LET US PLAY! Sports Camp for Girls and a new program, the LET US PLAY! Junior 2K. This is a running event just for kids. The girls' sports camp is held each spring for inner-city girls and promotes the benefits of sports and education. The camp annually receives funding from NFL Charities and serves as a model for other NFL clubs. Bryan and his wife, Leah, have spearheaded efforts to organize and run LET US PLAY! Camps in other NFL cities that now include Dallas, Denver, Charlotte, Pittsburgh and Oakland.
