JAGUARS RE-SIGN OLB BERNARD CARTER

The Jacksonville Jaguars today re-signed OLB Bernard Carter, who spent the second half of the 1995 season with the team. Carter will play in the World League this spring before reporting to the Jaguars in July.

Carter, 24, was first signed by the Jaguars on October 11, replacing Reggie Clark, who was placed on injured reserve. A sixth-round draft choice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1994 and the brother of former Florida Gators star Kevin Carter, he played in five games for the Jaguars, making eight tackles on defense and six on special teams.

Carter is the second member of the 1995 team to renew his contract. On December 26, DE Ernie Logan signed a new contract. The Jaguars have 66 players on their roster.

The free agency signing period begins Friday. The Jaguars did not designate any of their players as a franchise or transition player on Thursday. The Jaguars' list of free agents is (players with asterisks are restricted free agents): QB Steve Beuerlein (team has right of first refusal), S Darren Carrington, G Eugene Chung, G Ben Coleman, RB Vaughn Dunbar, LB Keith Goganious, CB Rogerick Green, WR Desmond Howard, TE Craig Keith, FB Le'Shai Maston, C-G Tom Myslinski, WR Jimmy Smith, LB Santo Stephens and CB Dave Thomas*.

A limited number of Jaguars season tickets for 1996 through 1998 will be available beginning next week. For information, call (904) 633-2000 or (800) 618-8005.
