The Jacksonville Jaguars today waived four players, placed two on injured reserve and signed rookie center Bradley Vierling. The Jaguars' roster now stands at the league-mandated 75-player limit, and the team will cut the roster to 53 players on Saturday, September 4.

Rookie defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith and center John Estes were placed on injured reserve. The following players were waived: first-year center Cecil Newton, second-year defensive end Julius Williams, rookie cornerback Josh Gordy and rookie wide receiver Roren Thomas.

Vierling, 6-3, 290 pounds, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by Pittsburgh on April 27 and was waived on June 15.  He was a three-year letterman at Vanderbilt where he ended his career with 25 consecutive starts at center. He started all 13 games as a senior and played 95 percent of the offensive snaps.

A native of Warminster, Pa., the 24-year-old Vierling lettered in football, track and field and basketball at Central Bucks East High School.

Vierling will wear number 60.
