Jaguars sign 10 players to reserve/future contracts

The following players count on the Jaguars roster for the 2014 season:

Brandon Barden, Tight end, 6-4, 253, 1st year, –Spent the final six weeks on the Jaguars' practice squad.  Was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Tennessee in 2012 and played in two games as a rookie.  Spent the first five weeks of the 2013 season on the Titans' practice squad before he was waived on Oct. 8.  Played in 48 games at Vanderbilt and totaled 107 receptions for 1,234 yards and nine touchdowns. 

Chad Bumphis, Wide receiver, 5-10, 202, Rookie –Signed by the Jaguars to their practice squad on Dec. 9.*  *Was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Miami in 2013 and spent five weeks on Denver's practice squad. Was a three-year starter at Mississippi State, playing in 51 games and recording 159 receptions for 2,273 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Shaun Chapas, Running back, 6-2, 244, 1st year –Native of St. Augustine and played at The Bolles School in Jacksonville.  Signed by the Jaguars on Nov. 26 to the practice squad where he concluded the season.* Was originally a *seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2011 where he spent the majority of the season on the club's practice squad.  Played in three games as a rookie and had one reception for nine yards. Was signed by the Detroit Lions following the 2012 preseason and played in three games with one start for the Lions.  Spent the 2013 preseason with the Lions before he was waived on final cuts.  Played collegiately at Georgia where he had 15 carries for 44 yards and five catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns as a senior. 

DeMarcus Love, Offensive tackle, 6-4, 315, 3rd year -Spent three weeks on the Jaguars active roster and nine weeks on the club's practice after signing on Oct. 3.  Was a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 where he spent two seasons.  Spent his entire rookie season on the 53-man roster but was inactive each week.  Missed the entire 2012 season with a torn pectoral muscle. Played collegiately at Arkansas where he served as team captain for his final two seasons and earned All-SEC first-team honors as a senior. 

Sherrod Martin, Safety, 6-1, 200, 5th year –Former second-round pick of Carolina in 2009 where he played in 59 games with 36 starts over four seasons (2009-12).  Has seven career interceptions including three in 2009 and 2011.* Added 20 passes defensed and four forced fumbles.  Concluded the 2012 season on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL. Was not with a team in 2013.  Played collegiately at Troy where he started 37 games and produced 292 tackles, four sacks, nine interceptions and 23 passes defensed.  *

Will Pericak, Defensive end, 6-3, 300, Rookie –Signed on Dec. 23 to the Jaguars practice squad.  Was originally signed by Baltimore as a rookie free agent and also spent time with San Diego.  Set a school record with 49 starts at Colorado and totaled 207 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and blocked three kicks. 

D'Aundre Reed, Defensive end, 6-4, 260, 3rd year –Signed by the Jaguars to their practice squad on Dec. 17 where he spent the remainder of the season*. *Was a seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 and spent two seasons with the club before he was waived on final cuts in 2013.  Was inactive for all 16 games as a rookie and saw action in six games for the Vikings in 2012.  Signed by San Francisco to the practice squad on Sept. 24 and waived on Nov. 27.  Played in 47 college games with eight starts at Arizona and played in three consecutive bowl games to conclude his career. 

Jabin Sambrano, Wide Receiver, 5-11, 190, 1st year –Signed by the Jaguars to their practice squad on Dec. 23.  Entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Colts in 2012 and has also spent time with Tampa Bay.*  *Three-year letterman at Montana where he totaled 1,787 career receiving yards. 

Matt Scott, Quarterback, 6-3, 212, Rookie –Spent the entire season on the Jaguars practice squad after signing as a rookie free agent.  Started 17 games at Arizona where he threw for 4,921 yards and 33 touchdowns.  Also rushed for 1,138 yards and eight touchdowns.*  *

Matt Stankiewitch, Center, 6-4, 305, Rookie –Was signed by New England as a rookie free agent in 2013 and was waived on final cuts.  Started all 25 games his junior and senior seasons.  Earned All-Big Ten honors as a senior.
