The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed rookie Khairi Fortt to the 53-man roster from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad and placed cornerback Will Blackmon on injured reserve, the club announced.

Fortt, 6-2, 240, was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2014 and opened the season on the injured reserve/designated to return list before he was waived on Oct. 6.  He was claimed off waivers by the Bengals on Oct. 7, waived on Oct. 14 and signed to the practice squad on Oct. 16.

Fortt was one of 12 national semifinalists for the 2013 Butkus Award after starting nine games for California in 2013 and tying for third on the team with 64 tackles along with 3.5 tackles for loss.  He began his career at Penn State where he played two seasons (2010-11) before transferring to California.

A native of Stamford, Connecticut, he attended Stamford High School where he earned second-team USA Today All-America honors.  He totaled 118 tackles, five forced fumbles and four interceptions as a junior before being slowed by injuries as a senior.
