The Jaguars have waived placekicker Jaret Holmes and replaced him on the roster with defensive end Mike Cecere (pronounced sa-SEAR).

Holmes played in the final four games of last season for the Jaguars, handling kickoffs and making one extra point in the season finale. He had previously played for Chicago and the New York Giants.

Cecere, 24, spent the 2001 preseason with the New York Jets after being signed as an undrafted rookie but was inactive for three games because of a shoulder injuury. This year, he was with the Carolina Panthers until being waived two weeks ago. The 6-2, 279-pound Cecere was a four-year starter at Delaware. He will wear jersey No. 64.

The Jaguars went through two more practices today. Head coach Tom Coughlin commented on rookie offensive tackle Mike Pearson, who suffered a sprained ankle in Monday’s afternoon practice. "He has a lateral ankle sprain. He’ll stay in a boot. The swelling is down this morning. Hopefully, he’ll be back relatively soon. It’s not the first time he’s had a lateral ankle sprain. He was wearing high shoes and his ankle was taped. He stepped on a foot."

On Wednesday, players will have meetings in the morning and then be available for interviews at the Radisson from 11:30 to 12:15. The afternoon practice session will begin at at 3:20, and Tom Coughlin will be available following the practice.

NFL referee Bob McElwee will be available at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Family Waiting Room at ALLTEL Stadium to discuss rules and answer questions from the media. This is the second year that the NFL has made officials available to meet with the media during training camp.

Jaguars DE Stalin Colinet underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee today at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute-Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Carlos Tandron performed the procedure, which was a trimming of the torn meniscus that Colinet suffered in last Saturday afternoon’s practice.
