JACKSONVILLE â Senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton and team reporter Kainani Stevens offer quick thoughts on the Jaguarsâ 41-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans in a 2025 Week 18 game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville Sunday
John Oehser, Jaguars Senior WriterâŠ
- Impressive title, impressive turnaround. The Jaguars on Sunday clinched their third AFC South title â their first since 2022 â in impressive fashion, and make no mistake: This team, in its first season of a remarkable turnaround, is absolutely deserving of its status as champions of a very good division. The Jaguars earned their way to the title with victories in the final eight games, needing every victory as they first moved past the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14 then held off a surging Houston Texans team with a critical series of must-win games in the final month of the season. This Jaguars team that finished 13-4 from this view turned in the most impressive regular season in franchise history, registering the second-most victories in franchise history and doing so against a difficult schedule. The Jaguars this season have victories over power teams such as the Texans, the San Francisco 49ers, the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. This team absolutely earned this very memorable season. Hat tip, too, to Head Coach Liam Coen, General Manager James Gladstone and Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tony Boselli â who in their first year working together reshaped and redirected the franchise to a remarkable degree. "It's a pretty cool relationship," Coen said of he, Gladstone and Boselli. "It obviously goes beyond just a working friendship and I can't thank them enough for their support and we truly do it all together. That's the cool part. Everything we do, every decision we make, is together is a group effort. The players feel it. Tony says all the time, 'It's all about the grass.' It's all about these players and trying to make their lives as good as possible while continuing to elevate and raise the standard. I think those guys are all in."
- This was methodical â and impressive yet again. Sunday's Jaguars victory in its own way was as impressive as those that preceded it. Yes, the Titans entered Sunday at 3-13 and the Jaguars were favored to win in one-sided fashion. But the Jaguars entered the game with the incentive of clinching the division title â and the weight of such incentives and expectations can make contenders wilt. The Jaguars, remember, lost to the Titans in Nashville in the 2023 regular-season finale needing a victory to clinch the South. The Jaguars on Sunday fell behind 7-0 when Titans quarterback Cam Ward ran for 7 yards for a touchdown, but Trevor Lawrence capped an impressive drive on the ensuing possession with a 23-yard touchdown pass to stunningly reliable wide receiver Parker Washington â and once the Jaguars took the lead with a seven-yard second-quarter touchdown pass from Lawrence to tight end Brenton Strange, Sunday never felt in doubt. Super Bowl contenders turn in the sort of performance the Jaguars turned in Sunday, and make no mistake: Just as Lawrence has become a legitimate MVP candidate and elite quarterback, the Jaguars are Super Bowl contenders. This was true before Sunday and they proved it again. On to the postseason. Buckle up. This is the fun stuff.

- They didn't miss their opportunity. The Jaguars were supposed to win big and they did, scoring 41 unanswered points to make a statement about the South title and their playoff aspirations. Their 13-4 record is a remarkable turnaround from 4-13 and they join the 1999 Indianapolis Colts and 2025 New England Patriots as the only teams in NFL history to lose 13 games or more in a season then win 13 games or more the next. Coen and Co. have turned in a season as good as any regular season in franchise history, perhaps the best season in franchise history. What they do in the postseason will define just how special this season really is or how Super it is.
- Trevor the Terrific. It's a name fit for royalty, and that's what Lawrence has become in his fifth season. Lawrence carved the Titans' secondary like a holiday ham. Tennessee had no answers as he hit eight different targets in the first half, finding three different receivers for his three touchdown passes before leaving the game early in the fourth quarter. The three touchdowns pushed him to a franchise record 38 for the year, and his 255 yards gave him his third 4,000-yard passing season. Most impressive was the poise he showed early as Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was bearing down on him play after play. Once the Jaguars got the protection fixed, Lawrence looked as good as we have become accustomed to seeing â as his 131.9 passer rating showed. The Jaguars enter the postseason on an eight-game winning streak with a hot quarterback, and that's a good formula for a playoff push.

- Kings of the South. It came down to the final game of the regular season, but the Jaguars' decisive victory Sunday earned the Jaguars their fifth division title in franchise history. The Jags have won eight consecutive games and needed every one of those victories to hold off the red-hot Texans. The Jaguars now await their fate as to who will be their playoff opponent. All we know so far is that the Jags' next game will be right here at EverBank Stadium.
- Jaguars' stars staying healthy may be the biggest win of the day. While taking home the AFC South crown is no small feat, the fact the Jaguars escaped without any major injuries is more important than anything for this team. Lawrence played into the fourth quarter until he surpassed 4,000 passing yards for the season. Washington was Lawrence's most targeted receiver Sunday and he took some tough hits from the Titans' defense. A point of concern could be starting left tackle Cole Van Lanen, who left the game late in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. Van Lanen, who signed a contract extension this week, has been an integral part of the offensive line as he has performed well while playing multiple positions. That's one to keep an eye on moving forward when the Jags get back to practice this week.
