Official: Coen, Lawrence Finalists for Three Prestigious Honors

JACKSONVILLE – Trevor Lawrence and Liam Coen are up for the biggest of NFL honors.

Lawrence, the Jaguars' fifth-year quarterback, has been named a finalist for AP MVP and Comeback Player of the Year, with Coen named a finalist for 2025 NFL AP Coach of the Year. The NFL and Associated Press announced finalists for the prestigious awards Thursday morning.

No Jaguars player or coach ever has won Coach of the Year, MVP or Comeback Player of the Year, with Coen and Lawrence among five finalists for the respective awards.

The finalists for the three awards:

  • MVP: Lawrence; Christian McCaffrey, running back, San Francisco 49ers; Matthew Stafford, quarterback, Los Angeles Rams; Drake Maye, quarterback, New England Patriots; Josh Allen, quarterback, Buffalo Bills.
  • Coach of the Year: Coen; Mike Vrabel, New England Patriots; Ben Johnson, Chicago Bears; Mike MacDonald, Seattle Seahawks; Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers.
  • Comeback Player of the Year: Lawrence; McCaffrey; Stefon Diggs, wide receiver, New England Patriots; Aidan Hutchinson, defensive end, Detroit Lions; Dak Prescott, quarterback, Dallas Cowboys.

Coen in his first season with the franchise led the Jaguars to a 13-4 record and the AFC South title in 2025 one season after they finished 4-13. He became the first rookie head coach in NFL history to win 12-plus games after taking over a team with four or fewer victories the season prior.

Lawrence, after missing seven games in 2024 and undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, finished third in the NFL in total touchdowns (38), fifth in passing touchdowns (30), sixth in passing yards (4,007) and tied second in rushing touchdowns (9) among NFL quarterbacks this season. His 38 total touchdowns were a single-season franchise record.

Winners will be announced at NFL Honors presented by Invisalign at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 5 at The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The program will be broadcast on NBC and NFL Network and streamed on Peacock and NFL+.
