London Quick Hits: "It's About Us…"

FRI QUICK HITS

WATFORD, United Kingdom – The Jaguars practiced at The Grove Friday.

The Jaguars arrived in the United Kingdom early Friday, then practiced that afternoon in advance of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London. Head Coach Liam Coen spoke to the media before practice, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence speaking to the media after practice.

Highlights from around the Jaguars Friday:

1.Coen reiterated his week-long theme of focusing on the Jaguars this week rather than an Eagles team dealing with multiple key injuries and a retirement this week.

"It is about us," Coen said.

2.Running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) were among Eagles players missing practice Thursday, with right tackle Lane Johnson – considered by many a future Hall of Fame selection – announcing his retirement. Linebacker Jonathan Greenard missed practice Thursday with an ankle injury.

The Eagles (2-2), a playoff team eight of the last nine seasons and the Super Bowl champions following the 2024 season, have lost back-to-back games to the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams after a 2-0 start.

"We've tried to look at it as, 'We can't worry about that,' or, 'If that even creeps into our minds we're probably worrying about the wrong things,''' Coen said. "It's about our execution, our game plan, our fundamentals, technique, communication.

"[Eagles Head Coach] Nick Sirianni does a great job. This team, this group, won a Super Bowl a few years ago. They know how to handle adversity. They have had a ton of guys play and help them win over the last few years. They will be ready to play, that's for sure.

"It really has to be about us and that is something we continue to talk about as a team."

3.Coen on Friday lauded quarterback Jalen Hurts, a seventh-year veteran who has started all but seven games for the Eagles over the last six seasons. Hurts has 117 passing touchdowns and 64 rushing touchdowns in seven NFL seasons.

"Any time you have a quarterback who can do both, it's always a challenge," Coen said. "It challenges your rush integrity. It challenges your coverage, because you have to cover longer."

Added Coen, "He is a winner. That is something that is undeniable. You look at Jalen's history, whether it's in college or in the NFL, he's a winner. Anytime you have a winner, you have a shot."

4.Jaguars second-year running back Bhayshul Tuten ranks 14th in the NFL in rushing through four games – the first four starts of his NFL career – with 277 yards and two touchdowns. Tuten has rushed for 66 yards (Cleveland Browns, Week 1, 4.4 yards per carry), 65 yards (Denver Broncos, Week 2, 5.0), 73 yards New England Patriots, Week 3, 4.9 yards) and 73 yards (Cincinnati Bengals, Week 4, 4.3) in four games.

"Every week he has gotten better and better, and he has ran it better and better," Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said. "He's in a great spot. He's a guy that seems like he's getting more and more comfortable, and in a rhythm, the more touches he gets. A big part of our game plan is to give him opportunities with the ball.

"All of our backs have done a good job, but Bhayshul has obviously come along, and he's playing really well."

5.The Jaguars enter Sunday's game leading the NFL in turnover differential at plus-6 and points off turnovers with 38. The Jaguars also have forced a turnover in their red zone in all four games this season.

"I feel strongly if we can win the turnover margin, we can win the game," Lawrence said. "We're going to play good enough on offense, we're going to make enough plays, we're going to score. If we can take care of the ball, the way our defense has been playing, we're typically getting at least one turnover."

The Jaguars on Friday released the third of three injury reports for the week, with veteran safety Eric Murray listed as doubtful for Sunday's game with a concussion after working limited Friday and cornerback Jaylon Jones listed as out with a hamstring injury after working limited Friday. Nine Jaguars players were listed as having no status, meaning they are expected to be available to play Sunday: Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip), wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb), left tackle Anton Harrison (elbow), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee), defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton (foot), defensive end Josh Hines-Allen groin), cornerback Jarrian Jones (foot), cornerback Jourdan Lewis (hamstring) and cornerback Montaric Brown (hamstring).
