Mock draft tracker 10.0: New consensus at top

Mock Draft 10.0 Thumb

JACKSONVILLE – The consensus has pretty much been reset.

When discussing the 2022 NFL Draft, that means the analyst world has readjusted its thoughts on what the Jaguars will do with the No. 1 overall selection.

Aidan Hutchinson, an edge defender from the University of Michigan, in the past two weeks has become close to a consensus for the Jaguars at No. 1 according to draft analysts. Eight of 11 analysts in this week's jaguars.com 2022 mock-draft tracker projected Hutchinson there.

"I would be naive to ignore the momentum moving towards Hutchinson; it is a very real possibility that they just take the Wolverine," Josh Edwards of CBS wrote.

CBS's Ryan Wilson agreed, adding what many analysts believe – that Hutchinson has fewer serious flaws than other top selections in the '22 draft.

"Hutchinson is probably the safest pick in this entire class," Wilson wrote.

Other analysts on Hutchinson:

  • Oliver Hodgkinson of Pro Football Network: "While I don't believe that this should be the pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars in April, well-respected voices around the program indicate that recent free agency moves — the franchise-tagging of [left tackle] Cam Robinson and signing of [guard] Brandon Scherff — point towards Aidan Hutchinson being the Jaguars' selection with the first overall pick."
  • Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus: "This pick is a no-brainer at this point, especially after Jacksonville franchise tagged Cam Robinson yet again."
  • Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal, the consensus No. 1 overall selection before the Jaguars recently placed the franchise tag on Robinson, remained the selection of two analysts in this week's tracker:
  • Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports: "Even after the Brandon Scherff signing, I still feel like the Jaguars will pick Neal at No. 1 overall."
  • Joe Broback of Pro Football Network: "It's tough to see the Jags take someone other than Evan Neal at this spot. There's been some talk about Aidan Hutchinson being the first player selected, but it feels like Neal would be better for them at this point."
