No. 222 overall: Brown is the selection

16X9-DRAFT-PICK (4)

JACKSONVILLE – The weekend finished on a decidedly defensive note.

That's because the Jaguars not only used their sixth-round selection on a defensive back, they used their seventh-round selection on one as well.

Montaric Brown, a cornerback from Arkansas, on Saturday was selected by the Jaguars No. 222 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft – the first selection of the seventh round.

Brown (6-feet-0, 196 pounds), who attended the Scouting Combine earlier this offseason, played four seasons at Arkansas and started 34 of 43 games played. He finished his career with seven interceptions, including five in 2021. He registered 133 tackles with 77 solos, and also had 16 career pass breakups.

He was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection in 2021.

The Jaguars on Thursday selected Georgia outside linebacker Travon Walker No. 1 overall and Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd No. 27 overall, selecting Kentucky offensive lineman Luke Fortner No. 65 overall and Wyoming linebacker Chad Muma No. 70 overall Friday.

They selected Mississippi running back Snoop Conner No. 157 overall Saturday, also selecting Ouachita Baptist cornerback Gregory Junior No. 197 overall.
