JACKSONVILLE – Paul Posluszny has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Posluszny, the Jaguars' veteran middle linebacker and leading tackler this season, received the honor for his performance in the team's first victory of the season this past Sunday, which came 29-27 over the Tennessee Titans at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn.
Posluszny, a seven-year veteran, registered eight tackles Sunday and also forced and recovered a fumble, leading a defense that forced a season-high four turnovers.
Posluszny leads the Jaguars in tackles this season with 88, and also has two interceptions, eight passes defensed, two tackles for loss, a quarterback pressure and two forced fumbles with a fumble recovery. He sustained a concussion with 2:11 remaining Sunday, and Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley on Monday said at that point, he had yet to be ruled out of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals at EverBank Field. An update on Posluszny's status is expected later Wednesday.
