TAYLOR NAMED NFLL OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

For the second time this season, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has been named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month, this time for December. Taylor was also honored in September. He is the only person in the three-year history of the award to win it twice.

In December, Taylor rushed 96 times for 401 yards and four touchdowns. He had two 100-yard games, including a team-record 183 against Detroit on December 6. Taylor also caught 16 passes for 101 yards and a TD.

Taylor finished the season with 1,223 yards rushing - sixth in the AFC - and 17 touchdowns, which tied for the third most ever for a rookie in NFL history. He has the five highest single-game rushing totals in Jaguars history, and he rushed for more than 100 yards six times in 1998. He set 22 team records this year. Taylor, 22, was the ninth player selected overall in the 1998 draft out of the University of Florida on a choice obtained from the Buffalo Bills in the trade for QB Rob Johnson.
