DENVER, Colo. – They had control. Then they didn't.

The Jaguars had a double-digit lead and momentum in a key early-season game Sunday. But in front of a raucous crowd and against a poised opponent, they held neither. The result was the end of a winning streak.

Denver Broncos running back Jonah Coleman's 3-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run keyed a strong rally, with the Jaguars squandering a 10-point third-quarter lead as the Broncos dominated the second half of a 20-13 victory in front of 76,472 at Empower Field at Mile High Sunday afternoon.

Coleman's touchdown came with 7:21 remaining and marked the first time the Jaguars trailed this season. The Jaguars punted on their ensuing possession and did not regain possession.

The Jaguars (1-1), who beat the Broncos 34-20 in Denver in Week 16 last season, lost for the first time after a nine-game regular-season winning streak dating to last season. The Broncos, last season's AFC West Champion, improved to 1-1.

The Jaguars led 13-3 at halftime, but the Broncos rallied with a long field goal by Wil Lutz in the third quarter before a short touchdown pass from Broncos quarterback Bo Nix to tight end Nate Adkins tied the game early in the fourth quarter.

The Jaguars last started the regular season 2-0 in 2018.

Lawrence completed 17 of 29 passes for 189 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception, with the interception coming late in the third quarter and leading to Adkins' game-tying touchdown. Nix completed 22 of 31 passes for 288 yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions.

Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington caught seven passes for 98 yards, with his 32-yard reception from Lawrence in the second quarter setting up the game's first touchdown.

The Jaguars' defense twice in the second quarter held the Broncos inside the Jaguars' 10-yard line, forcing a short field goal one drive before cornerback Jourdan Lewis intercepted Nix's pass to wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the end zone just before the two-minute warning.

• The Jaguars punted on their first two possessions, then started a drive late in the first quarter that ended with a second-quarter touchdown. The Jaguars forced punts on the Broncos' three first-quarter possessions.
• Running back Bhayshul Tuten's 1-yard run on first-and-goal capped an eight-play, 72-yard drive and gave the Jaguars a 7-0 lead with 12:13 remaining in the second quarter; a 32-yard pass from Lawrence to Washington on second-and-18 from the Broncos 33 came one play before Tuten's touchdown. Lutz's 20-yard field goal capped an eight-play, 58-yard drive and cut the lead to 7-3 with 7:01 remaining in the second quarter; a 49-yard reception by receiver Jaylen Waddle gave the Broncos first-and-goal at the 1-yard line, but three Broncos runs lost a yard to force the field goal. Little's 44-yard field goal on the final play of the half came after Lewis' end-zone interception, capping a 54-yard, seven-play drive and pushing the lead to 10-3.
• Little's 24-yard field goal capped an 11-play, 64-yard drive to start the second half and push the lead to 13-3 with 9:02 remaining in the third quarter.. Lutz's 45-yard field goal on the ensuing series cut the lead to 13-6 with 4:58 remaining in the third quarter.
• Adkins' 7-yard reception from Nix capped a 10-play, 64-yard drive and tied the game 13-13 with 11:47 remaining. Little missed a 54-yard fourth-quarter field goal, with the Broncos driving for Coleman's touchdown on the ensuing possession.

Notable: The Jaguars have not allowed a point in the first quarter this season. The only other time in franchise history they did not allow a point in the first quarter in their first two regular-season games was 2005. … Nick Mullens was the Jaguars' backup quarterback again Sunday. Second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers was among the players inactive for the Jaguars Sunday, with the six others: rookie wide receiver C.J. Williams, rookie tight end Tanner Koziol, veteran offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, rookie defensive end Wesley Williams, veteran linebacker Jack Kiser and rookie safety Jalen Huskey. Mullens was activated from the practice squad Saturday after also being elevated from the practice squad into a backup role for a Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
