The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent linebacker David Holloway to a contract today. Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed.

Holloway, 6-2, 230, was originally signed as a rookie free agent in 2007 by the Arizona Cardinals, where he spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. He spent a portion of training camp with the Washington Redskins in 2008 before the Cleveland Browns signed him to their practice squad last December 17. He was waived by the Browns last week on July 27.

Holloway was a three-year starter at Maryland, starting 34 of the final 35 games of his career and recording 186 career tackles. He started 12 games as a senior and ranked third on the team with 70 tackles and was honored with the Alvin L. Aubinoe Award as the team's unsung hero.

A native of Stephentown, New York, Holloway lettered in football, basketball and track at Albany Academy. He is the oldest of eight children and his father, Brian, was an All-Pro offensive tackle in the NFL, playing with the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Raiders after an All-America career at Stanford. His maternal grandfather, Johnny "Pie" McKenzie, played in the NHL for the Boston Bruins.

Holloway will wear jersey number 49. The Jaguars now have 80 players under contract.
