Jaguars Waive Harvin, Sign Swift

The Jaguars today waived cornerback Isaac Harvin and signed cornerback Michael Swift.

Harvin had been signed by the Jaguars on June 8 as an undrafted rookie. A native of Ft. Myers (Cape Coral High School), Harvin attended four different colleges, playing at Northwest Oklahoma State in 1999.

Swift is a three-year veteran who spent 1997 with the San Diego Chargers and 1998 and '99 with the Carolina Panthers. He played in 15 games last year before being placed on injured reserve before the final game of the season because of a fractured right fibula. He made 24 tackles on defense and 11 tackles on special team in 1999. The 5-10, 175-pound Swift played collegiately at Austin Peay and is a native of Tiptonville, Tenn. He will wear jersey No. 30.

The Jaguars' roster remains at 85 players, with DE Tony Brackens the only unsigned player. The team will practice twice on Monday, in full pads for the 8:40 a.m. session and in helmets and shoulder pads for the 3:20 p.m. practice. All practices through August 14 are open to the public.
