WATFORD, United Kingdom – The Jaguars on Thursday practiced at The Grove.
The Jaguars (4-2) will play the Los Angeles Rams (4-2) at Wembley Stadium in London Sunday in a 2025 Week 7 game. A look at Thursday around the Jaguars – with offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile speaking to the media after practice …
- Getting wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter more involved offensively remains a major Jaguars storyline. It remains a focus for Jaguars coaches, too.
"It's my job, ultimately," Head Coach Liam Coen said this week, with Udinski on Thursday calling creating more plays in which Hunter is the primary option "a little bit of a balance."
"It's us really trying to narrow down and find what are the things he can do well, put them in the game plan, then try to find a way to ensure that those opportunities arise throughout the course of the game," Udinski said. "We never want to force somebody the ball, but he's certainly a guy who can make things happen when he has the ball in his hand.
"We'll continue to work from now through the end of the season, hopefully beyond, to try to make sure we have opportunities for him to touch the ball. And that we can dictate to defenses those opportunities to make sure he's getting the touches where we see fit."
Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, has played extensively on offense and defense this season. He has made numerous impact offensive plays throughout the first six games, catching 20 passes for 197 yards.
"It's a team sport," Hunter said. "I just go out there and do my job and the other guys do their job and we continue to be a team, not be selfish and just continue to be consistent and win the games the best way we could.
"It is very important for me to be patient and let the game come to me. Coach is trying to dial up a couple things for me and I just have to continue to work and have the guys trust me because I'm doing my job every time."
Said Coen, "Scheming him open is part of it, No. 1. Our job as an offensive staff is to make sure we're putting him in the progression and putting him in the position to be No. 1 a little bit more often in some ways. When he is the primary, we have to throw and catch.
"We have to make sure we identify it, find him, be able to be at the right spot at the right time. We can't always say the ball's going to get thrown to one person based on any play unless it's just they're spitting it to them and giving them a ball in hand touch…."
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence said getting Hunter more opportunities is important "because he is so good with the ball in his hands."
"It's coming along every week," Lawrence said. "He's making big improvements and I'm finding more ways to keep him involved and get him the ball. That's the biggest thing. He has so much talent.
"Sometimes we might not give him as many touches as we wanted to or we plan to and the game just unfolds a little bit differently and that's just football. It's definitely something we are consistently trying to do because I think we've all seen how special he is. …"
- The Jaguars on Thursday issued the second of three injury reports for the week, with center Robert Hainsey practicing full after practicing limited Wednesday. Hainsey missed the loss to the Seahawks with a hamstring injury sustained in a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs the previous Monday.
Defensive end Travon Walker practiced full with a wrist injury Thursday for a second consecutive day. He played with the injury against the Seahawks, having missed the victory over the Chiefs seven days after undergoing surgery on the wrist.
"I think he's been progressing," Campanile said of Walker. "He's just able to do a little bit more right now than he was early on. It's really just trying to use him in probably similar ways to the way we did last week. And then, little by little, we can get him in there more and more, as he gets back to normal. He's done a good job out here so far."
Practicing limited for the Jaguars Thursday for a second consecutive day: Wide receiver Dyami Brown (shoulder) and safety Eric Murray (neck).
Also:
- Linebacker Devin Lloyd (calf)
- Tight end Quintin Morris (groin) were listed as not practicing for a second consecutive day Thursday.
- Both players were ruled out for Sunday when they didn't accompany the Jaguars to London Monday. …
