Travon Walker on Mentality, Battling Through Adversity on Wild Card Playoff Game O-Zone Podcast

WALKER OZONE POD WC

JACKSONVILLE – The week is as big as the season has been special.

Travon Walker is appreciating the moment as the Jaguars' second postseason appearance in four seasons approaches, and there's a lot to appreciate.

The camaraderie around this team is real, and it matters.

"It's a great vibe," he said.

Walker, the Jaguars' fourth-year defensive end, joined senior writer John Oehser for this 2025 AFC Wild Card Playoff O-Zone Podcast. He discussed multiple topics, including playing through multiple injuries this season – and playing with a cast protecting his left wrist during an extended midseason stretch.

"Doing my little rehab, that wasn't enough for me," he said. "I see my guys out there doing a lot of hard work, I see all the time and effort that's put into what goes into a game, it's just something in me that just wouldn't allow me to just sit out knowing I could still be available a little bit regardless if I'm all the way 100 percent.

"You want to be 100 percent in the NFL because it's a production league, but I just couldn't see my guys go out there. If they need me, I just wanted to be there for them. I wanted to be there for my brothers, regardless if I'm down on my last."

Walker also discussed his relationship with Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, a teammate the past four seasons.

"It's something that I really cherish," he said. "It's something that I never take for granted and that will be there. Even 40 years from now, I'll always look back on the moments, the conversations and the things that we've talked about – regardless if it's football or off the field.

"He really has been there for me and I try my best to be there for him as well. I know that he's in my corner and in the best interest of me as well."

Walker, too, discussed he and the team's relationship with fans as the Jaguars prepare for their first home playoff game in three years.

"One of the things that's been fun to watch for me is the interaction amongst the fans that have been the stadium, especially at home games," Walker said. "We have some rowdy fans. They can get rowdy and I feel like that's something that we really do need.

"We have some great fans and it has just been a pleasure to see."
