JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars on Sunday reduced their roster to 53 players.

The roster breakdown as of Sunday at 6 p.m.: 25 offensive players, 26 defensive players, a punter, a kicker and a long snapper. Second-year wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter is listed in that breakdown on offense and defense.

NFL teams had until Sunday at 6 p.m. to reduce rosters to the 53-player regular-season limit. Sixteen players may be on the practice squad, with six of those players allowed to be veterans of any experience. Teams may have 17 practice-squad players if one is part of the NFL's International Pathway Progam.

A position-by-position look at the Jaguars' 53-player roster as of Sunday at 6 p.m.

Quarterbacks (2)

Projected starter: Trevor Lawrence (sixth NFL season). Others on roster: Quinn Ewers (second).

Lawrence will enter his sixth season as the Jaguars' starting quarterback, with Ewers entering his first season as Jaguars' backup quarterback after being acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins Saturday. Lawrence makes this a position of strength, and he emerged as one of the NFL's best quarterbacks last season when he finished fifth in Associated Press Most Valuable Player balloting with a franchise-record 38 touchdowns (29 passing, nine rushing). Ewers, a seventh-round selection by the Dolphins in the 2025 NFL Draft, completed 55 of 83 passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions as a rookie. The Jaguars waived/injured Carter Bradley and waived Joey Aguilar Sunday, with Aguilar seemingly a strong possibility for the practice squad.

Running backs (4)

Projected starters: Bhayshul Tuten (second NFL season), Chris Rodriguez Jr. (fourth). Others on roster: LeQuint Allen Jr. (second), Ameer Abdullah (12^th).

The Jaguars will enter the 2026 season with four running backs on the roster for a second consecutive season, with the position undergoing significant change since the end of last season. Tuten, who rushed for 307 yards and five touchdowns as a Jaguars rookie last season, and Rodriguez – who signed with the Jaguars as a restricted free agent after rushing for 500 yards and six touchdowns with the Washington Commanders last season – have been listed as co-starters on the depth chart throughout the preseason. Allen finished preseason not playing because of a soft-tissue injury, and Abdullah impressed offensively and on special teams throughout training camp. The Jaguars waived rookie J'Mari Taylor and released veteran DeeJay Dallas Sunday, with Taylor a strong possibility for the practice squad.

Wide receivers (6)

Projected starters: Jakobi Meyers (eighth NFL season), Parker Washington (fourth), Brian Thomas Jr. (third NFL season). Others on roster: Travis Hunter (second), CJ Williams (rookie), Josh Cameron (rookie).

This has become a position of strength in the past year – with Meyers, Washington and Thomas a strong, versatile and balanced core trio. Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, focused mainly on defense late in training camp and preseason but is expected to play a significant role offensively. Williams and Cameron, both of whom were selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, impressed in training camp. The Jaguars released veterans Tim Jones and Austin Trammell Sunday and waived Trebor Peña, Chandler Brayboy, Michael Wortham and Brady Boyd. Jones, Peña, Wortham and Trammell seem candidates for the practice squad.

Tight ends (4)

Projected starter(s): Brenton Strange (fourth NFL season). Others on the roster: Nate Boerkircher (rookie), Tanner Koziol (rookie), Quintin Morris (fifth).

This is a strong, intriguing position with the Jaguars talking throughout the offseason about playing more multiple tight-end formations in 2026 than they did in 2025. Strange, who signed a contract extension in the offseason, emerged as one of the NFL's top tight ends last season. The Jaguars selected Boerkircher in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft and Koziol in Round 5, marking the first time in franchise history they selected two tight ends in the same draft. Morris is a solid blocker who the team re-signed in the offseason. The Jaguars traded Hunter Long to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday and waived Patrick Herbert, with Herbert seemingly a practice-squad possibility.

Offensive linemen (9)

Projected starters: Left tackle Anton Harrison (fourth NFL season), left guard Emmanuel Pregnon (rookie), center Robert Hainsey (sixth), right guard Ezra Cleveland (seventh), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (fourth). Others on roster: Walker Little (sixth), Jonah Monheim (second), Wyatt Milum (second), Daniel Faalele (fifth).

This is a deep position that underwent change as it dealt with injuries during 2026 Training Camp, with Harrison moving to the left side after starting at right tackle in 2022-2024 and Van Lanen moving to the right side after finishing 2025 starting at left tackle. Pregnon, a third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, worked with the starters much of the last two weeks of training camp, with Cleveland – a starter at left guard last season – moving to the right side. Monheim had a strong camp, as did Little. The Jaguars acquired Faalale in a training camp trade with the New York Giants. They released Chuma Edoga, a veteran who started two games for the Jaguars last season, and Geron Christian Jr. and Sam Mustipher Sunday. They waived Jerome Carvin, Jimbo Obidegwu, Sam Mustipher, Jerome Carvin, Ricky Lee, Kilian Zierer and Timothy McKay Sunday – with multiple players from that group practice-squad possibilities.

Defensive ends (6)

Projected starters: Josh Hines-Allen (eighth NFL season), Travon Walker (fifth). Others on roster: B.J. Green II (second), Danny Striggow (second), Wesley Williams (rookie), Bryan Thomas Jr. (rookie).

This is a talented position that finished the 2026 preseason feeling potentially deep as the Jaguars leaned fully into acquiring young players – and developing them – behind Hines-Allen and Walker. That duo forms one of the NFL's best end combinations, with Hines-Allen a two-time Pro Bowl selection and Walker one of the best run defenders who also had double-digit sacks in 2023 and 2024. Green had an impressive training camp, with Striggow a strong run defender. The Jaguars selected Williams in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Thomas – who signed with the Jaguars as a collegiate free agent following the '26 draft – registered 3.5 sacks in three preseason games. The Jaguars waived Quindarius Dunnigan Sunday and placed rookie seventh-round selection Zach Durfee on injured reserve designated to return.

Defensive tackles (5)

Projected starters: DaVon Hamilton (seventh NFL season), Arik Armstead (12^th). Others on roster: Matt Dickerson (seventh), Ruke Orhorhoro (third), Albert Regis (rookie).

This a strong position, particularly against the run, with Hamilton emerging last season as one of the NFL's top nose tackles and Dickerson emerging as a front-line player in the Jaguars' defensive line rotation. Armstead has been a quality pass rusher when healthy, and the Jaguars acquired Orhorhoro in an offseason trade with the Atlanta Falcons. Regis, a third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, flashed at times in the preseason and had a sack against the New Orleans Saints in the preseason opener. The Jaguars waived/injured Keivie Rose Sunday, and waived Tommy Akingbesote, T.J. Bollers and Jalen Hunt Sunday.  Bollers and Hunt seem strong practice-squad possibilities.

Linebackers (5)

Projected starters: Foyesade Oluokun (ninth NFL season), Ventrell Miller (fourth) or Branson Combs (second), Dennis Gardeck (ninth). Others on the roster: Jahlani Tavai (eight).

This was an area of focus during '26 preseason and training camp, with Miller and Combs competing at weakside linebacker alongside Oluokun and Gardeck. Oluokun, a starter the past four seasons since joining the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent, remains a consistent key to the defense and Gardeck is a reliable pass rusher/strong-side linebacker. The Jaguars waived three former draft selection at this position Sunday – Yasir Abdullah (Round 6, 2023), Jalen McLeod (Round 6, 2025) and Jack Kiser (Round 4, 2025) – and waived Amari Burney and released Baylon Spector Sunday.

Cornerbacks (5)

Projected starters: Montaric Brown (fifth), Travis Hunter (second), Jourdan Lewis (10^th). Others on the roster: Jarrian Jones (third), Christian Braswell (third).

The Jaguars have transformed this position in the last year, with Hunter – the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft – expected to move permanently into a starting position opposite Brown, who emerged as a starter last season before signing a contract extension in March. Lewis remains critical to the secondary, as does Jones – who proved solid in multiple positions late last season with Lewis out with a foot injury. The Jaguars waived Jabbar Muhammed and Preston Hodge Sunday, releasing Corey Ballentine. Muhammed seems a strong practice squad possibility.

Safeties (5)

Projected starters: Antonio Johnson (fourth), Eric Murray (11^th). Others on roster: Rayuan Lane III (second), Caleb Ransaw (second), Jalen Huskey (rookie).

This position has transformed in the last year, largely because Johnson has emerged as one of the team's top defensive players after beginning the 2025 season as a reserve. Murray, who signed with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent in the 2025 offseason, remains a reliable veteran and Lane is one of the team's top special teams players. Ransaw and Huskey each played extensively throughout the preseason, with Ransaw – a third-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft – missing his rookie season with a foot injury. The Jaguars waived Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, Trevian Thomas and Devin Neal Jr. Sunday.

Specialists (3)

Kicker Cam Little (third NFL season), punter Logan Cooke (ninth), long snapper Ross Matiscik (seventh).

This remains a strong, experienced group with with Little setting the NFL record for longest field goal (68 yards) while converting 30 of 34 field goals and 50 of 51 extra points last season. Cooke was a Pro Bowl selection in 2024, when he was a second-team Associated Press All-Pro selection. Matiscik has made the Pro Bowl three consecutive seasons, earning first-team AP All-Pro honors in 2023 and 2025 and second-team honors in 2024.
